This was taken near the end of the 2006 season, compiled by K.C. Joyner from Football Outsiders. He was asked if Newman was better than Hall:

"I was surprised to see that Newman's metrics don't come out much better than Hall's metrics. With 56 charted passes, Hall has given up 8.8 yards per pass with a Stop Rate of 55%. Newman, on 39 charted passes, has given up 8.2 yards per pass with a Stop Rate of 56% -- slightly better, but not much."

Guys like to paint Hall as being a complete bum, and that's just not the case. No he isn't in the same class as Newman as Newman has been much more consistent over his career, but Hall is getting better and is still moving towards his peak potential. Is he worth the money he's reportedly asking for, no. Is he a talker, yes. As a player though, talent wise, he really takes more punishment than he should on these boards. Hall has a long career in front of him, is a good player who is improving and would instantly improve our secondary significantly.

What I have seen of Hall is that he thinks he can do whatever he wants regardless of anything. I dont think that will change. He is who he is.

Tank - seemed to want to make things right
TO - seemed to want to make things right

therefore they were good risks

Hall seems like its his way or no way and you have to accept it. He layed into Petrino pretty hard last year on the sidelines when HALL was CLEARLY in the WRONG. I felt bad for Petrino and ashamed for Hall.
What did Petrino do to deserve respect? First chance he jumped ship, Hall was wrong but Petrino deserved it. Least of my worries would be Hall fitting in, no way would he pull the same stuff on Wade. Wade treats his players like family as does Jerry, (see TO). If Jerry wants him he'll be in Dallas & he will be a model teammate!

the interest in Hall from 7 teams should tell us everything we need to know about him

I'm a guy who likes to bag on him, he's not that bad, but he's not that good either

Your comments on Petrino are after the fact.

Hall was wrong at the time. Period.

I am not a Petrino apologist... I could care less either way about him... but.... the guy had the Vick situation... lost Schaub right before that... Hall and others were going the thug route on him..... all of those things played a part in his leaving.

DeAngelo Hall
This is the second consecutive season Hall makes this list. He receives this honor because he once again made the Pro Bowl, despite posting simply abysmal metrics.

His 9.2 YPA ranked 76th among cornerbacks. Hall's 47.1 success percentage was solid (31st in the league), but his 17.9 missed pass percentage was one of the highest in the league. That means a large percentage of Hall's success was due to luck.

His supporters would point out that many of the big plays he allowed were due in part to not getting good help from the Falcons' safeties. That might be the case, but Hall's overall YPA was still only .8 yards better than Jason Webster's figure. Furthermore, Woodson had just as little help from the Packers' mediocre safeties and still put up great metrics.

I just saw this and the guy is just an average player. No thanks whatsoever.

I've read their disappointed in D'Brick. I think the word is that he plays soft.

On a side note, I think it would be hilarious to read the board if Hall becomes a Cowboy. I think it would outshine the number "I will quit the Cowboys" posts that were made after T.O. signed.

What would be even more funny is if he signed here, and had an outstanding year, to see how many of the people who hate him would suddenly start trying to claim they knew all along he'd be a good signing. I beat 3/4s of the people who hated on him wouldn't admit, at all, to bagging on him.

That said I don't believe the rumor has any real merit or legs to it. It's probably BS being passed around to possibly get the Giants to up their offer.

Do they post the amount of TD's given up by corners? Hall seemed to be on sportscenter on a weekly basis for giving up td's. I remember when Chad Johnson and him were both talking trash pregame, then Johnson went out and smoked him all day long.

31st among CBs. That means that out o f 64 starting CBs he was 31st. KC Joyner does not take into account TDs given up= and Hall gives up a lot.

Hall is not that good.

He is a loudmouth showoff without discipline.

He would be expensive.

PASS.

I agree but, he would be in a differant locker room and he would be a number two corner --Just a question -would that make it any better?

The problem is he wants to be paid like a top CB, and Dallas has a real top CB to pay soon.

Not me, I like Hall. I'm very happy to hear Jerry is at least in the mix for him.....:)

has any new info been heard on trading for Hall? Talking about Halls future payday..thats not until next year. He said he would play the 08 season for his present salary of 4.5 Mil.(I think). The up coming season will be a try out for a long term deal. If he doesn't performs then dallas doesn't lose much, if not franchise him next season or sign him to a long term deal if he plays great. We could still draft a young CB for the nickle and to start if Hall doesn't get sign for the 09 season.

I have heard no updates. As far as I know, there is a rumored trade in place for Akin, Henery, #22, and our 4th for Hall and both of Atlanta's 2nd rounders.

Like I said, this is the rumor going around so you can decide for yourself how much credibility it has. I have seen this rumor posted on alot of sites, so I tend to think there might be some legs to it.

If something is in the works, it would proabably go down before free agency starts.

I kind of like the idea of trading for Hall with #28.

a) We're not going to find anyone nearly that talented with the pick.

b) I don't want to depend on Anthony Henry next year. The only thing I'll assume is that he's going to miss 6+ weeks with a minor injury and he'll need another 3 weeks on top of that before he's back up to speed.

c) It gives us leverage with Newman next year and doesn't leave us so exposed at the position if a tough decision needs to be made next offseason. I love Newman, but I'm not ready to hand a soon to be 31 year old player a 35 million dollar signing bonus if he has two consecutive seasons with constant injury problems.

d) Hall's big play ability and his talent for jumping routes is perfect for Wade's defense.

e) He's a huge weapon as a punt returner, something we desperately need.

I didn't want to start a thread to ask this questoin, so hopefully someone will answer my question here.....

Do we have any reliable sources that visit here and confirm or deny rumors?

I know JJT reads the site, or at least he has in the past, but I'm talking about someone in the loop of what is going on.
