From 2001-2008 (post-Aikman and with home games at Texas Stadium), the Cowboys threw 67 home INTs (8.4 per season) and 90 road INTs (11.3 per season).
From 2009-2017 the figures are 76 home INTs (8.4 per season) and 47 road INTs (5.2 per season)

What stands out there is drastic improvement on the road INTs, but staying the same at home. Maybe we need to look at why they improved so much in that area? It would explain the great road record as TOs relate so well to winning games.

If you want just 2006-2008, the numbers are home 25 (8.3 per season) and away 35 (11.7 per season).
For 2009-2011, the numbers are home 23 (7.7 per season) and away 17 (6.7 per season).

It looks like Romo improved a ton on the road in those years, but don't forget it was Kitna and McGee for 10 games in 2010. And it actually improved further in the seasons since with other QBs. With Prescott as the starter, the figures are home 10 (5 per season) and away 9 (4.5 per season). Small sample size with him though, and 2016 was a superb year.

Clearly it has more to do with the QB than the stadium. Thanks for digging up the facts

Many fans from every team sell a couple tickets each season to help offset - or cover entirely - the cost of their season tickets each year. That's a big reason Cowboys get so many "home" away games. The demand in most areas is strong enough that season ticket holders can make as much selling them as they do on 2 or 3 of the other games. That's a no-brainer for a home team fan - they get to see their favorite team for an extra game or two.

The Cowboys have an additional handicap. PSLs so steep that Jerry basically offered mortgages to cover them. The original PSLs - in Carolina - had to be paid in full prior to the first set of season tickets going out. Some may have put them on credit cards - or personal loans - but for the most part the only ongoing expense was the cost of the season tickets. Many Cowboys PSL owners are having to cover the season ticket price along with current payments for the PSLs. If leaner (personal financial) years strike, they are forced to sell off more tickets to break even - or at least keep their head above water to avoid losing their PSLs.

Exactly Right.

When I 1st got my season tickets, I split them with a friend. At the old stadium, no PSL's, but we got them in 2007 when they announced the new stadium was approved. We paid $89 for each ticket, near the top row, 5 from the top at the goal line.

We upgraded to the new stadium, had freaking awesome seats, row 1, 20 yard line, cowboys side. Section 313. perfect line of sight as to where the video board was not a distraction. $340 per seat per game. however, the PSL's were $16,000 each. At 8% for 30 years. Of course we were not going to pay on them for 30 years.

Well he had to back out after 2 years into them for financial reasons. I had full ownership then. We went to every game. or switched off a few times, he took his wife a few times, I took my girlfriend who ever she was at the time. LOL.

Then I had to travel as I said before for my work. So sold the tickets, and this always paid for them, and went to one of two games, for basically no cost with the profits I made.

well, as I didn't get to finish on my other post. I decided t retire early, and did not want this expense any more. Though looking back I could have kept them. But have no regrets at all in selling them. I had the opportunity to sell them and get out at a break even price, so jumped at the chance. As I said, I have no regrets. Now if I want to go to a game, I will just pay the price and go.

I live 7 miles from the stadium, but to where I parked at, I went slightly off course than straight down the road, as it was convenient for where the parking lot was located. Same for returning, the traffic flow was directed the way I drove there. 15 minutes there, 25 minutes tops to get home.

But yes the prices as well as being forced to pay full price for PS games, which you have to go or basically give away, one must sell a few recoup some cost if they choose to do so. And ALL teams and fans are this way.

I was at that game. :) It did not help that my best friend is a Niner fan. :( The ironic thing is that he did not even dress in San Francisco colors, so 49er fans kept telling him he was a Cowboys fan for simply sitting beside me. :muttley:

I absolutely did not like watching the game in a suite there. I prefer my living room and tv 100000000000x

It is pretty hard to follow the game there. The tv format gives you replays, analysis, you don’t miss anything. The view is better too

Lucky booger, at least you've been to a Cowboys game

Where was the suite?

Did you ever see the view from Jerry and Stephen's private box?
I mean the one in level 200, at the 50 yard line, enclosed in glass.

I went to a season ticket holder event one time. They were to have the SB trophies there, and cheerleaders and all that. But the cheerleaders left early, they never brought the SB trophies. We got there about 90 minutes before it was to end. And most people and everything was already cleared out.

so one of the security guys, said, hey, this is not right. So he took me and a friend on a private tour, of stuff and places where no ne else gets to go.

One of those was Jerry's private booth. The one he and Stephen go to to have conversation not for anyone else ears. TV monitored, and all. The elevator goes from his suite right to this booth and on down to field level. Which is how he gets down there so fast. I have some pictures of it. Pretty cool. Heck maybe it's part of the tour by now. took us onto the locker room and press conference rooms, and other arras. It was all pretty cool.

I paid $2700 for front row end zone seats in Carolina - of course that was back around 1994. Sold them 6 years later for $7K each.

A bit of dumb luck:
My 2nd of 3 payments was declined for fraud by my CC company and I had no clue. Panthers charged my 3rd payment fine, but never informed me that my account was delinquent so I lost my spot on the waiting list. Didn't find out I had to go to the back of the line until all my friends received their seat assignments and the waiting list was completely emptied. I thought for sure the lower level of the end zone had to be filled and I would end up bumped up to the mid-level. Straightened out the missing payment and then asked if there were any seats available in the lower level. They told me it was mostly open because they filled the lower level from the top down ("lower level" was the mid and lower sections below the boxes) because your "view of the field was better as you got higher" :D I went to their offices the same day and hand-picked my seats on the front row at the corner of the end zone.

None of that contradicts anything I said. Wow, a video showing the same pocket of 9er fans repeatedly and one showing 49er fans standing up...again in a small pocket (likely the same) as the previous picture (and the one video that is just a picture).

Like I said, small area, red stands out. 49ers had a lot more to cheer about that game, so no shots of Cowboys fans all standing up with 9er fans sitting on their hands.

Once upon a time, there were two guys who were neighbors. One neighbor had a truck. The other neighbor did not have personal transportation.

One day both men began talking and the first neighbor said he was buying himself a new truck. This peaked the second neighbor's interest, so he asked his neighbor if he would trade-in or sell his current vehicle. Finding out that the truck would be up for sell, the second neighbor asked what the selling price would be. The second neighbor loved the selling price, asked the first neighbor if he could buy his truck, and the first neighbor said, "SOLD!"

The end. Well, not really. What the second neighbor did not know was that the first neighbor was not on good terms with someone he never met. In fact, the stranger hated the first neighbor's guts--so much so that he keyed both sides, hood and trunk of his newly bought used truck.

The police caught the stranger and the second neighbor asked them why the stranger keyed his truck. They told him the reason. The second neighbor decided to tell the first neighbor what happened, to which the first neighbor said:

"What does any of that have to do with me? It's not my truck anymore."

THIS^^^^

Because money hungry seat holders sell off their reserved seats to opposing fans, thus turning Cowboys Stadium into an opposing team's crowd advantage "away" stadium like this picture shows the stadium overwhelmingly full of 49ers fans.

dang disappointing ......that's a lot of RED in them stands of ours.....:(

I'm buying the fan excuse. Notice the turnovers listed by OP. That's a lack preparation and focus and zero to fans, home or away. At the end of the day coaches coach, players execute, the stadium should NOT matter.

Are you buying or not buying the fan excuse? If it is the latter, I agree totally.

Jerry Jones and original seat owners bear responsibility for the number of opposing team fans’ occupying large numbers of seats on gameday. However, it is lack of execution on critical drives by players and ineffectiveness of coaches to adjust appropriately per certain situations that are the main reasons for the team’s home stadium record. It is not unique to football but some fans believe other fans hold more influence over wins and losses than what actually occurs in reality.

Home field advantage is about crowd noise as much as anything. When the Dallas offense is on the field, they at times have trouble with audibles b/c of the crowd noise. Should be the opposite. Crowd noise should interfere with the opposing offenses ability to communicate as well. Not happening at ATT. Go see a game in Pittsburgh or NE for a primer on the advantages of football smart fans rooting for the home team. Dallas has basically a neutral field.

No argument, home crowd noise can influence certain plays during a game but it does not greatly influence the outcome of games on a game-by-game sense. Same influential principle applies to certain calls, weather, injuries, etc. to a certain degree. Generally however, wins and losses are influenced mostly by the better team on any given Sunday.

I was born and raised, and still live, in Ohio. Despite the distance, I went to several games in Texas Stadium (not to mention road trips to Indianapolis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Miami, etc.). I LOVED Texas Stadium.

I've been to a few games at Jerryworld. It's an awesome building, but it is NOT Texas Stadium. I miss Texas Stadium.
