They're doing a good job of holding opponents out of the end zone more often which is good.

But the biggest reason this works is our offense generally possesses the ball the most. As long as our offense can control the game, and grind games out, this type of defense will work.

The big concern that some have is come playoff time when you face a better defense like say Seattle who will be able to give our offense some problems. If they force more 3-5 and out type of drives that mores drives our D will be on the field. The more our D is on the field the worse for the Cowboys.

The pass defense has been showing cracks strictly because of injuries.

You get the injured back and the numbers will improve.

It's no more complicated than that.

Claiborne may not come back, injuries are part of the game and players have to step up. Offensively we haven't missed a beat due to injuries. Romo goes down and Dak steps up and has been unbelievable. Tyron missed a game and Dez missed three games and we kept rolling because we're so talented offensively and players have stepped up. We're going to have more injuries on defense and we don't have the depth. Every team suffers injuries but players have to step up if you're going to achieve your goal.

Its really the only defensive stat that matters.

Dallas is the 6th best team in the NFL when it comes to not allowing the opposition to score at 19.4 points allowed per game. Seattle leads this stat by only allowing 17 points per game.

So you can say Dallas has no shot because of their defense but our defense is one of the best at not allowing points to be scored on them.

The way the Cowboys offense is built is why you can't judge our team like the 31 other NFL teams.. We just have a different recipe for winning than they do.

It's ball control... It's an explosive run game that teams are selling out to stop and in turn getting burned by Dak while we chew the clock.
Same reciept in 2014. I hope we don't end up with the same result. We had a horrible time stopping anyone and couldn't get a pass rush.

That stat is mostly due to having the #1 offense in the league at chewing up the clock which has helped limit the exposure of our defense. I believe we were 4th in points allowed a few weeks ago and we're starting to drop due to our pass coverage. It's going to catch up to us in the playoffs if our 30th ranked pass defense doesn't improve. In 2013 our defense was historically bad statistically and a big part of that was our 30th ranked pass defense that gave up five 400 yard passers.

We've given up two 400 yard passing games the past three games and 6 TD's through the air. We've gotten worse in coverage and it's going to catch up with us just like it has with every good team we've had if we don't improve our pass rush. If you have to rely on your offense every week to win games you're going to eventually run into trouble if you start missing a beat offensively. If you keep bending defensively eventually you'll break, we've seen that happen with every good team we've had the past decade.
That may be more to do with the injuries in the secondary. Which I think will get better if moisture back for the playoffs

The only team I'm really concerned about is the Pats. And if we play them I will be very happy
The falcons have no defense so they may score but feel we can out score them

Everyone knows points per possession is the only stat that matters

The D has already been exposed which is why we're only 2.5 favorites over Minn who's falling apart. Our D is keeping opponents in games and we're winning with our offense scoring points, chewing up the clock and moving the chains. Our pass coverage has gotten much worse since the start of the season and we haven't had an INT in weeks because we have a weak pass rush.
Yea true everyone talks about TOP but what is our opponents average starting field position? Seems our offense is pretty good about not punting the ball from out of their own end zone

That's been the main issue but injuries are going to happen and players on the defensive side of the ball have to step up. Offensively we haven't missed a beat due to Tyon missing a game and Dez missing 3 games because we're so talented offensively.

If they get a first round bye their first playoff game wouldn't happen until mid January.

That gives Claiborne another month and a half.

I'm not concerned.

Where is the Aaron Rodgers this year?

What QB has the skills to really throw all over us and score TDs instead of FG's?

Even if Claiborne returns our lack of a pass rush is something to be concerned about. We just have to hope Dak and Zeke stay healthy and we don't hit any bumps offensively later in the season that could expose our defense. The team I fear most is Atlanta.

Sure Atlanta is concern, but it'll work out how it works out.

How about points per possession in the 4th quarter of a one possession game? Is that a stat?
No Bc I don't believe there's some Magic formula wherein they can just "step it up" when it matters more.

If we get into yet another two score hole and dak is shaky it all collapses and we're sitting there looking at our shiny 15-1 wc round exit.

Any word on Mo? I'm starting to get concerned he won't make it back.

Nope. He said something about a detached bone from his pelvis or a detached muscle from his bone. It doesn't sound good. He was having a great season but he got injured again. That cost him millions.

This is what I was going to ask. Is it safe to say they've (Dallas defense) have been good in the redzone?

I think that was the big difference in the Commanders game this last week.
