The longer this goes on the more people will question the validity of the injury. Which is understandable considering this player's track record.

that was actually my initial reaction because McClain made it abundantly clear he didn't want to be the focus and he absolutely was with his high level of play.

Ro McClain is only a bit over a week into his recovery from his groin pull. That might be sufficient recovery time for a tweak, so I assume that's likely what it was. It'd be nice to see both him and Melton back but I'm not really counting on it. Expecting much of anything from Spencer, even if he plays, would most surely be unrealistic. In any event, I'm quite sure his snaps would be highly limited, even in a best case scenario.

I don't know why anyone would put the onus on him, he wanted to play yesterday. It's strange to me his name hasn't been mentioned since Jerry.

How many other teams are currently without their 5 best front-7 players?

Top DE - Spencer
Top DT- Melton
Best trio of LBs - Lee, McClain, Durant

It's happened to us each of the last few years and you're blind as a bat if you haven't noticed.

Our D gets slammed with injuries until they're no longer competitive. Then fans get to spend the whole offseason pretending we sucked because of some huge coaching failure ("the scheme is outdated!" is my favorite).

I think fans understand that our D has been decimated with injuries (but some of them are just getting ridiculous now), but it's been a weak link for a few years now, yet we continue to draft players like Escobar in the second round when we could have had a number of defensive line players, or trading up and losing draft picks that doesn't pan out. The absolute gong show that was the 2009 draft (and in hindsight a weak 2008 draft) means we have little depth which compounds issues. This is a problem created by Jerry and these coaches

I think Durant is decent but Carter is better. But you forgot DLaw missing as well.

I want to know what's going on that our defense is constantly plagued with injuries. This isn't a unique year. It happened when Rob Ryan was here and continued into Kiffen and Marinelli's tenure.

They were saying on TV that it was a stupid offensive play. They swept the lineman and opened up the gap to allow Hitch to fill the hole and make the play. If they would have stuck with the power play who knows what would have happened. Not taking anything away from Hitch's play. He was way back there in the backfield. He did what he was supposed to do. Took advantage of their stupidity. Loved it.
If you "if" every game then all games will end in a tie. Just like there are no crying in baseball there are "ifs" in football.
