This is a darn good post.

I recall the administrators of this forum encouraging posters to not post the entire story but just a link and maybe a sentence or two.

I admit, when I read posts with links and content, I thought there was more so I clicked the link. Then I discovered that the entire story was included in the post itself.

We only have ourselves to blame. Some people simply don't know how to follow directions and respect the compromise DMN reached with this site. We were told not to post the entire story, but some didn't listen.

This is a case of a few bad apples spoiling the whole bunch.

I thought the same thing when I read it, 1doe

Between this site, blogging the boys and other blogs I will ALWAYS have more than enough cowboys info.
I liked Sturms breakdowns but not enough to pay for them. So it's whatever to me.

In the news/newsfeed forum there is a link to a PFT article. M. Florio quotes the DMN in the story.

This is the safest way to get their content into the eyes of zoners.

All on NBC's legal budget and not Reality's.

That paper is dying a slow death anyway, and not just because newspapers in general are.
They no longer have their own North Texas feel. Instead, the overall paper may as well be from the northeast. No longer unique.
..."That paper is dying a slow death anyway/"...I agree!...Newspapers in general are dying for that matter!...pity!...I used to enjoy a paper in the morning ...not anymore!...

We received a legal Cease & Desist order from the law firm of Dallas Morning News (DMN) today requesting we no longer allow DMN content on the site.

It's unfortunate given that we usually send DMN's web site several hundred users in traffic each day, but it is their choice and their content so we will abide with their legal order.

On the bright side, there are a lot of other great Cowboys news sources available which will help all of us keep up with the latest Cowboys news.

/reality
They'll feel it more than we will. I'm pretty sure majority of their clicks come from this site.

Well, as the owner/management of CZ, it is smart for you to take the high road, especially if they want to reconcile after seeing the consequences of their actions.

IMO, it does not appear it was a matter of different departments of a larger company not talking to each other.
Furthermore, the editor appears to be part of the decision as illustrated below.
Perhaps he is an old-school editor.
His posts just seem to be damage control to minimize PR damage and trying to fool dummies to continue marketing for them.
As I already said, it is smart for you to take the high road.

"Howdy, Cowboyzone folks,

Everyone on this site is welcome to link to any content on our site and use the headline. We're just asking you not to post full stories.

Why have we asked people to stop posting full text stories? Because we are now a subscription-based site (after you read a certain number of free articles per month). We have many hard-working journalists and photographers, and we pay for 4-6 of them to go to each Cowboys road game. That's more than any other media entity. To pay for that coverage, we need to protect our content from being posted for free on other Internet sites.

We hope you understand. If you have any questions, you can always reach me at mfrancescutti@**************

Waldo,

You should start a website where you posts links to DNM stories.

GIve each story your own title (don't use theirs).

Then post links to "your" stories here.

Make sure you use the option where the owner of the domain name is private.

They won't bother to track you down.

Bill

Bill by the minute and loving every minute of it :lmao:

I sure remember their bill rates ...

3 of my best friends are corporate lawyers.
All are the nicest friends you can ask for.
However, I have seen 2 of the 3 in action in law.
Wow.
But like one said "I am doing the best for my client."

It is the evil in the client's heart that gets actualized using the lawyer's skill...

sorry not an IT guy.
studied bio/econ but worked in semiconductor :lmao:

you are the one in engineering if i recall correctly lol

also the sad thing is the great great majority of DMN articles are not worth reading.
the posts from many here like jdnay are far better written.
both jdnay and fuzzy write much better.

the issue is how does that hurt DMN.
their articles are so bad that they dont take many clicks away from them.
everyone and their mother know how to get around their paywall if one wanted to.

we are better off writing better articles in our own website.
that is why i post articles on BTB.
a big flaw in CZ is that the posts are hard to access once time passes by.
they are also harder to find by google.

just think about it.
look at all those Jaylon articles and some of the jdnay articles.
you cannot get that depth or quality in DMN at all.
BTB does have some good articles though.
