Dallas-NE swap per Broaddus-RUMOR

#9: 1,350
#40: 500

#17: 950
#33: 580
#60: 300
Total: 1,830

So roughly even, certainly closer than leaving 50 pts on the table which is the equivalt of roughly a late 4th/early 5th round pick.

Would you do it?

I can see it now. They pull off this stupid move and the war room cam shows JJ high fiving Red and everyone else around the table like they just won the Super Bowl.

I will puke.

The draft zone is your home field....you are much better over here...:D

One of the smartest teams in football is desperately trying to move up to land one of the few blue chippers in the draft. That should tell you something, Dallas.

Different situations, though. That smart team has a ton of picks to play with. The Cowboys don't have that luxury.

Before any of you jump off a bridge or get on a plane to Valley Ranch in order to choke Jerrah, take a look at the recent drafts and the price paid to move into the top 10. You'll see that, if the rumor is true, the price in question is reasonable. Also, take a look at the potential players available from #9 to #17and what the Cowboys need. You're going to see that the differences in talent aren't as extreme as y'all think, but the salary differences are.. The Patriots can afford to be choosy within that range of talent because they have the picks and they have a roster ladden with young talent. The Cowboys are in a slightly different situation in that they don't have the picks.

Also, remember that if there's a CBA with a salary cap this year, the Cowboys will need to make some significant adjustments as well.

I would, sure.

My only hesitation is that it doesn't give us more picks, just greater value picks so you still have to hit on your selections, but you could also trade down again and turn those picks into more ammo.

This is assuming trading up is out of the question of course, and we don't love someone there at #9.

And then we reach for someone like Solder and Jerry gushes about how we "got someone in our top 10 and picked up an extra pick!" :laugh2:

As Norm pointed out this morning ... we traded down out of Steven Jackson for Julius Jones, but the good news is we got Jacob Rogers out of it.

Thanks for that trip down memory lane! :bang2:

What they really have to decide is how much they like Tyron Smith and do they think he will blossom into a great NFL tackle. I believe that is who we target with the #9 pick if we stay there. However, if you aren't totally sold on smith, and you want costanzo, you may be able to get him at 17

UPDATE FROM BORADDUS

BryanBroaddus Bryan Broaddus
Just had a visit with a NE authority that doesn't believe NE will pay market value to move up so DAL will probably not get deal they hope.

NE wants to hose Jerry. At least maybe Jerry doesn't want to get hosed.

they shouldnt pay market value.....duh
they should pay more. Their moving into the top 10 to get a blue chip player. They should atleast give us more than the point system says.

I think it's good that Broaddus put this out there..I think Jerry wants to FEEL like he's ripping someone off in a deal, whether he actually is or isn't, he wants people around him telling him that he is. We need people in the media coming out before the fact and saying how dumb the trade is.

You gotta love it when the guy buying the horse says, "Whatever market price is, forget it. Now, what are you going to give me to take this horse off your hands?"

The Patriots are picking in bad spot, because the teens and 20s players all blend together. The Cowboys have to play them next year, by the way.
