Dallas Ranked As Having The 9th-Worst Offseason In The NFL

Dallas' additions basically boil down to the draft. Every team in the league had a draft and they all think its wonderful.

Outside of that, Dallas lost a lot of players and gained nothing of note through free agency. Calling this the 9th worst offseason is probably being too kind.

As we all know though, you don't win titles in the offseason. If so, Jerry would have a lot more trophies. If Dallas is going to improve, its going to have to come from within. Personally, I think that the coaching staff left a lot to be desired last year. That's your biggest opportunity right there.

Reports have suggested they tried to add language into the deal after the fact, so it seems fair to blame them for the Gregory deal falling apart. Gregory looked like a superstar for stretches in 2021, so it’s not going to look great if he continues to keep that up in Denver.

Dallas’ cap gymnastics forced the team to part with Amari Cooper in a salary dump, trading him to the Browns for a fifth-round pick. My preference would have been to keep Cooper, whose numbers fell a year ago in part because the Cowboys simply had too many weapons on offense, but they didn’t have the leverage to extract meaningful value in exchange for the 27-year-old’s services. He’s not on the same level as Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill, but acquiring him didn’t cost close to as much as those two did in terms of draft capital, while his contract isn’t as expensive and has more flexibility."

Hard to believe they found 8 teams with a worse offseason than Dallas

I have been watching La’el since he came in the league and he has been an overrated JAG that has been living off the reputations of Tyron, Martin, and Frederick. When we needed him to step up he has been missing in action. Steele is probably are second best linemen right now and the team played better when he was the right tackle over La’el. Please leave those PFF grades at the door. They said we had a top 5 offensive line last year. A 24 year old tackle entering his third season has no upside?
Gregory 16 career sacks is a force alright. Last season was his first full season without getting suspended and he had 3 great games out of 18 to show of it. You can argue that he cost us the 49ers game because he was an idiot.

I'll take PFF over your opinion any day of the week. We did have a top 5 OL. Our offense lead the NFL in scoring AND yards from scrimmage. How do you do that without a great OL?

Steele is a JAG. Thats how he grades out. He doesn't possess the athletic ability of Collins or Tyron. He is stiff and slow.

Gregory landed a 70M contract in Denver. So that speaks for itself. We tried to pay him the money but he turned us down.

You know the Gregory deal with Denver was strange. He appears to have agreed to a deal and backed out at the last minute. The Cowboys dodged a bullet the guy is not reliable.The fact that he changed his mind to sign with Denver at the 11th hour is exactly how he played in Dallas. So close yet so far away.

Collins play was not falling off. He missed 2020 and was one of the best right tackles in the NFL in 2019. The knucklehead issue is a separate one. But he played better than Steele when he returned from suspension. Next year, make sure you keep the same standard for Steele that you did for Collins and lets see how your opinion changes.

Gregory deal with Denver was not strange. He is a great situational pass rusher and got paid. The only funny part was the cowboys trying to add language to the contract after they agreed to terms which is the only reason he is not a cowboy right now.
