Dallas should explore Dak trade value

No. Just no.

You don't trade a QB that has been to two Pro Bowls in his first 3 seasons, and has the 2nd most wins in the NFL over that time period. I'm among those who doubt Dak's ability. But the reality is that the Cowboys would be foolish to trade Dak. They've built a team with a good young corps of players, and would be wasting that talent by starting over with a new QB. At this point, the Cowboys have to be committed to Dak for at least the next 3 seasons while the core of the team is intact. The best that those of us who doubt Dak can do is hope we are wrong, and that Dak dramatically improves as a passer.

How do you put Dak out for a trade to test the waters without it getting to the press?

What does that do to Dak's psyche about playing quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys?

What does that do to the team's opinion of Dak, the coaching staff and the management?

If you are sending out feelers, what does that do to the ultimate worth of Dak? Does it undercut his real value because people will wonder why he is on the market?

If you find no takers, what kind of contract do you believe he will agree to after you tried to sell him on the open market?

These questions should be asked about every player that magically hits the Let's Trade Fill In The Blank threads on this site.

It appears many get these notions thinking other teams will give away a fortune for the player they wish was gone for whatever reason. Enamored with riches beyond believe, no thought to all the ramifications is listed and thought out.

TO was a really good player. Maybe even great on some days. But he had baggage of self esteem issues and once his constant passive aggressive behavior wore people down he turned on them as if they were enemies. Dallas let him go when he still had value. We can argue about how much, but when it became evident his downside was far worse than his upside, he was jettisoned.

Same with Dez Bryant. When his value did not live up to his heartache, he was sent packing.

Same with Antonio Bryant.

Dak has done nothing to cause people to look at him as anything but a leader and team player. His ceiling is still unknown, even by the ones who profess they do know. He is coming into his fourth year. All the whining about the greatness of Romo because of his stats and if he only had a team around him is the same for Dak. Dak has put up astounding stats. Dak protects the ball at all costs, up to and including not throwing for a great number of yards per game normally. He may do this because he doubts his accuracy. he may do this because he is still waiting for the game to slow down for him. But in this respect he is the anti-Romo as far as picks go.

I understand what signing a new contract means if he fails. But trading this guy away for magic beans means more than a few years of searching for the right guy.

How is this not obvious?

After Stephan comments about Dak needing to sign team friendly deal and Dak on record as saying there will be no discount...an impasse is coming. Rather than get into issue of is Dak good or not, what could Cowboy get in trade if long term deal can't be agreed upon.

Note:
Denver received TWO 1st & 3rd for Jay Cutler
Cincy received 1st & 2nd for Carson Palmer
Eagles received 1st & 4th round pick for Sam Bradford.

If your Stephan, what would you need back in trade?

Note: this is not to get into large debate about if Dallas should or shouldn't do this but merely an exercise in what you think his current trade value is.

What does this guy have to do with the Cowboys...

yeah lets trade the qb the team has invested 3 years in while drafting and signing all this talent around him. Great idea, you are a genius.
He would have his highest trade value right now, so to some degree, it makes sense... and we wouldn’t have to pay him a contract that he will never, ever earn.

The real question is, what is his trade value? There should be a poll. If the answer is less than 1.5 first round picks, then he shouldn’t be getting any contract at this point, much less Spaulding’s hope for a $100 mm lockup pre season. Insanity.

If he hasnt hit his prime, why should be paid as if he already has?
He will get paid for what he has done now......i think you are confused about prime. Dak is very good right now but he isn't a finished product. He will improve and it would be best to get him under contract now because the longer we wait the more expensive it will be.

Dak plays his best when the pressure is highest. People here want to ignore it. 4th quarter & OT, he is Tom Bradyish. He's a winner.

That's my entire thing, if Dak has the ball in the 4th quarter or overtime I'm 100 percent confident he will score. I'm not sure any QB in the league right now is more clutch as Dak

If you trade him you better put all yout gold in the 2020 draft. Thats where your QB will be.
Lots of talent next year in the draft.

U would want a 2nd this year and next and there 1st next year.
I would be happy with that.

Cinci would be a great spot to look and maybe the Dolphins??

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

I seriously doubt we would do a trade like that. But you would have to go into FA and find a stop gap till next year. You would also have to lock up Amari and Zeke before you trade him

So you could probably scratch that idea

Yes trade him without a replacement. Let's go back to missing the playoffs.
Well in Philly they called that the Process and it worked out well for them. The only thing is we have been in the process for a long time but I guess Philly’s is much better.
