Shaq Thompson and Eric Kendricks sound like perfect fits for this.

You think so?

from the article:

saw the OTTO as a hybrid position that combines the attributes of a traditional 4-3 SAM linebacker, a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 DE.

is kind of going to be on the edge, we'd like [him] to have some pass rush ability

The key difference is that, because the OTTO candidate has some defensive end traits

Kyle Wilber has some of these traits, although I do not feel he's an impact player.

I dont think we have one on the roster to be honestly.

Beasley sounds like a perfect fit, but he is a pipe dream

This is the most misleading title to a blog post I've ever seen. This is pure fantasy.

Definitely interesting and I like it if true. Although I will say that I don't think the "Otto" player is currently on the roster. That would have to be addressed in the draft, but I don't see that as being too much of a problem.

This is not a new position. This is a Jack or whatever hybrid terminology you want to call it although the OTTO will move around more. This is nothing new although you may see an increase in snaps outside the 'base' defense of the traditional 4-3. Some colleges have used a hybrid LB/SS/DE player for years.

What you want is someone who can cover, rush and tackle and I mention Watson earlier this week for a role like that in addition to the Nickel. This is what they wanted Carter for although the use of hybrids has increased.

rabblerousr, the well-respected author of the article, claims to have been told by multiple individuals inside the Cowboys organization on multiple occasions that they will indeed experiment with the OTTO position.
