If the OTTO rushes from the Strong side. would that push the SDE inside to DT? I know Hardy has done some of that, but he played most of his time at WDE. The article mentions Watson and Rivers for the OTTO.

Mincey/DLaw-Crawford-McClain-Hardy
Watson-Brinkley/Hitchens-Lee

no it sounds like the SLB is just wider. Would take on that TE in a one on one in most situations.

I think part of the use of the 'Otto' is to move the DE outside and put the Otto between the DT and the DE although past history has shown the movement of the Elephant etc around. Call it a Jack/Spur/Joker/Star etc but taking an exceptional athlete bigger than a S and smaller than a DE isn't new. It's creating disruption and a position for an all around tweener with athleticism, speed along with the ability to tackle inside, rush, play LB, and cover well. The ultimate LB. Just hard to find an athlete who can do all of that.

In some sets this would happen, SDE lining up inside as DT with 2 gap responsibilities. Seahawks do this often in several different sets. In other sets the SAM would line wide as 9 tech, so you are both right.

I chuckled at the thought of us having big plans for Dekoda Watson.

A guy who didn't see the field last season despite all the injuries at LB, and a guy who was released mid-season by the Jaguars is going to get his own special position this year.

Yeah, I'm not buying that.

I think Plan A was to keep Durant and have him in this position. I think Carter dumbed his way out of town.

This article is pure theory, there is no proof that Dallas is going to run a hybrid scheme.

The only thing different Marinelli did last season is that he had the WLB follow the 3T because the 3T drew the double coverage most of the time. This aspect allowed the WLB to key faster on run/pass without having to read the linemen. (helped Carter mentally)

The secret to the Marinelli Magic was that he ran a good mix of C1, C2, C3 that kept offenses honest.

I'm just curious why posters never or rarely mention WIlber? I think last year was one of the first years he had a legit role in this offense without moving around too much and even then I think he played a few linebacker positions last year.

I think it says a lot when a 4th round rookie many here boo-hooed stepped over him on the depth chart.

Ehh....I get it but I thought it was more so about how well Hitchens played as opposed to how bad Wilber played. Hitchens took that and earned it. I think Hitchens is a legit player.

Watson needs to be healthy. And most teams run mutiple fronts and move players around. It's the number of snaps teams do this that matters.

Seattle plays some interesting schemes. But they have had the players that are talented enough and smart enough to pull it off.

In the end players have to execute and make plays regardless of schemes. Schemes can confuse the offense and put players in position to play to their strengths.
