Mavs are having one of their bad 3 pt games so far, while the Spurs are hitting their outside shots after Duncan or TP drive into the paint and dish it outside. But was happy to see the deficit cut to 4 while Dirk was on the bench most of the 2nd quarter (though his shot was off to start the game - maybe this gets him on track in the 2nd half).

This is one of those series where I don't get too excited or dejected if one team takes a big lead early. The other team usually makes it close by game's end.

Nicely done Mavs, the key was to get the game close before the half, which they did. I like how they re-adjust at halftime and came out running it in the middle.

Nice game by the Mavs! I was not expecting an 8 point win on the road in game one, but I will definitely take it. I thought Dirk and Parker would have huge games (even though TP did have 24 and 8, I expected 30+ ppg, and Duncan's numbers were, uh, Duncan-esque), but this game seemed to be more about bench production. JET, Bass and Barea were big contributors for the Mavs while the only significant contribution from the Spurs' bench was Dwight Gooden, and he only made 33% to get his 9 points.

Michael Finley had a really great game, so props to him on the Spurs. I don't think Matt Bonner will get much playing time this series - he has advantages, just not in the matchups in this series.

Did anyone else catch the "Let's Go Mavs!" chant towards the end of the game? I thought my ears were deceiving me, maybe they were chanting something else, but it's in the local DMN write-up.

Oh, and one more comment - good game by Erick Dampier. Duncan still had a good game, but not enough to pull out the W. He played good defense, held down the paint (especially in the 2nd half), and threw down some good dunks. Maybe we don't need Diop.

matt bonner has to be the worst big man to ever start an nba playoff game!! that being said, its just one game, we have lost the first game of the playoffs quite often in the duncan era, no biggie. monday becomes a must win though. i expect tim and tony to have monster games and the spurs to romp, but who knows....man i miss that ginobili!
