Damn, Shawne Merriman is a stud...

Thank god there's another thread about Merriman/Ware. You really can't have enough of these.

agreed, a few other threads i would like to see more frequently include:

1. Why didnt we draft randy moss?
2. Barber vs Julius
3. and to think, we could have had sean alexander
4. Drew Hensen vs Tony Romo
5. Bring back ryan leaf!

this is pretty impressive. Manning rarely gets sacked all year. Merriman has 3 and counting today....

2, the 4th and 1 play was called a run.

I don't know what happened to the Colts, but I like it. It's as if Manning went into playoff mode already, ala choke. Props to Merriman also.

If the Colts lose just wait for the "they weren't trying to win , they were just playing not to get hurt" excuses.

I can't believe people are trying to take away how good Merriman is because they think it makes Ware look bad. Merriman is a flat out stud. The guy is 21 years old and is a ferocious pass rusher. I think Ware will turn out to be a fine player, but Merriman is miles ahead of Ware as a pass rusher right now.

The only consolation is that the Skins passed on him too. Bill LOVES big linebackers, so why did he take the smaller Ware?

GIve it a few years before anyone can be evaluated. Merriman has an easier time since Ware is being force fed a new type of D. And remember that sacks are not everything.

You say give it a few years. Well I say give us a new DC then we will see.

Watch out. If Merriman keeps playing like this, he may start getting double teamed. Then he'll disappear although he'll have four times the amount of pressures and people will start saying he sucks, and start comparing him to another player in the draft.

because Merriman is trouble waiting to happen

The problem Sarge is people think that acknowledging the good play of any of the other possible 1st round defensive picks that Dallas could have taken over Ware means dissing Ware.

To me it just means, we would've been fortunate with whoever we picked.

It's too early to tell who will have the most impact on their team. But they're all contributing as rookies on teams that are in the playoff chase. That says alot to me.

I agree both Ware and Merriman are playing very well. Only a fool would think giving props to Merriman is dissing Ware.

I love Ware, but, as you say, that has nothing to do with the fact that Merriman is playing outstanding.

Yes i've watched Merriman play a couple times and he is good but he is not a Cowboy, Ware's a Cowboy. .

So you can't give any other non-Cowboy player in the NFL props?

He has to be a Cowboy?

Pretty ridiculous.

This just feeds the fatalistic all or nothing view that a message board has. When Merriman held out there were a gazillion threads on look at how smart we are that Merriman signed with the Postons and we have Ware in Camp. Now its completely the other way around Merriman is the second coming of LT and Ware is Aundray Bruce. It goes with everything else we lose the sky is falling we are going to have a top ten pick in the draft. We win and then we are going to Detroit to annihilate Indy in the Super Bowl.

They're only rookies on this day, late in the 2005 season but I do know that on this day 12/18/05 Shawn Merriman is proven to be a beast on the field.

I know that Ware was from a D-II but as far as the comparison between the two this year...Merriman has won hands down. Especialy from teams (like the Cowboys & Chargers) who need someone, anyone, rookies or vets to make plays in big games down the stretch, Merriman has done that more than Ware has in both their rookie season.

I like to give draft classes 2-3- years to be evaluated but Ware has some ground to catch in the next year or so.

I'd like to think that he'll make it.
