Well, most cable companies would have charged you in the first place for the different receiver. That's like having a company mark up their prices, then giving you a discount, and you being happy about it.

That's only one part of what I got out of that, though. Trust me - Comcast would have told me to go screw myself.

The NFL Network this week.
Time Waner and the NFL are at each other's throats. Just hold off until January and then we're switching to Comcast, which carries it.

Time Warner is showing it in the Dallas, Waco, Lubbock and Abeline markets.

Those markets are staying with Time Warner, I believe, after the switch. That may have something to do with...I dunno.

I just signed up for DirectTV- it was $20 cheaper than Time Warner Digital Cable with HBO & DVR. With Direct I'm getting Showtime & Starz and DVR plus the NFL Network- We'll see how it goes. My digital cable was constantly glitching out and the DVR was terrible- cutting off things and not recording things it was supposed to.

I purchased this HDTV for myself as a xmas present. (wife hates when I do that..lol)

Since the purchase I have spent more time on the couch that I ever spent before. Along with the other HD channels I also have HBOHD and SHOHD. I turn it on one of those suckers, turn on the DTS receiver, and pump the 5.1 sound into the living room. It's just crazy. :)

Cable = better internet service; better picture; less service disruption.
That is the way it is in my house.

BTW I love me some NFL Network. The best channel on TV.

Isnt it only around 10 bucks to get the Digital package on Cable ?
In my hometown it is $10 for digital cable and $2 for the tier that carries NFL Network. So for $12 a month there is peace in the household. The wife gets her channels (Lifetime Movie Network.....***????) and I get mine. :D

I've had it with the freakin' NFL Network this year...tonight, I don't get to see the Skins/Giants game because I don't have the digital program with Comcast.

Everyone said this was coming, but I didn't really think the NFL would let their product become so exclusive...This makes three games I've missed this year due to the NFL Network...what will the future bring? I'd imagine it can only get worse.

Umm why are you mad at NFL Network, when you should be outraged at your local cable provider??

They're both to blame.

Well right now you all should be petitioning for Verizion FIOS in your respective areas because they carry lightening fast DSL (much cheaper than Comcast and faster), brilliant cable (much better picture quality and more high def channels like NFL Network in HD!) and very good phone service. Fios uses Fiber Optic wires unlike cable with the copper wires which transmits more bandwidth directly to your home! Verizon is about to put a major hurt on Comcast, Adelphia and Time Warner.....

Not really because the NFL's arguement is why not just include the NFL Network in your regular packages that includes ESPN. I see that point clearly however unless you enjoy getting jobbed by your cable provider that's on you....

The NFL wants [X]. The cable companies want [Y]. There's a middle ground. Neither is willing to budge.

Both are to blame.

Don't you find it odd that half the cable companies went ahead and gave the NFL [X] while the other half are still groveling over [Y]. There are companies that care about their subscriber base because they know that a growing subscriber base = prosperity... and then well there are...

I find it odd that the NFL is having trouble negotiating with so many different companies.

The future will bring pay-per-view I fear.

I believe you are right. I also believe I won't be watching NFL football then. Why not? I quit watching baseball and basketball and college football on purpose and I can quit watching NFL when the time comes. I can always watch local HS football; they may not be as big and fast, but football is always fun.

If people think they cannot live without high priced football, then it has become an addiction.
