People like to knock Kiper, and I'll admit, sometimes it's hard to take the guy seriously (I think it's the hair), but he's pretty damn good at what he does. At worst, he's about as spot on as anyone else doing what he does. I think that people forget that the draft is such an inexact science. If it were easy, we wouldn't be a perennial 8-8 team.

He along with Joel Buchsbaum (PFW) made the industry.

People like Todd McShay owe him a great debt of gratitude that they have full time jobs covering the draft.

Absolutely. McShay, I could totally do without. I'm sure that the guy is very knowledgeable, but there's something about him on camera that I just don't like.

Kiper is a clown.

Remember him guaranteeing that Jimmy Clausen was a generational talent and the best player in the draft?

You would think that Gil Brandt would have come out with his own book years ago. Or even someone like Broaddus.

Broaddus?

He doesn't even know the names of these players at the end of the season.

A generational talent and best player in that draft? No I don't remember that.

I do remember him being the only draftnik preaching the values of Tony Romo and Miles Austin though.

He's forgotten more than you know.

Jimmy wasn't the GM, Jerry Jones has always been. :D

Championships is a goal reached by a whole, not a coach.

Jerry might have been the GM in title, but you know damn well who was handling the personnel decisions on that team. I read a pretty eye opening book recently (Boys Will Be Boys), if you haven't read it yet, you should definitely check it out. It really provided a lot of insight on who was pulling the strings during the glory years.

McShay did clown him on Clausen.

Ultimately, the draftniks can roll the dice on QBs just like NFL GMs. That is one position that is next to impossible to predict.

I liked the draft report because of the information it had. Just about any player's name that surfaced, you could find that name in the draft report and get excellent info. That outshined the fact he didn't always hit the right team or right round, but all in all he did as good as anybody else I read. I will miss Kiper.

I've honestly never read any of his draft reports. Were they printed and sold on magazine stands?

I think if you are a Cowboy fan, Jeff Pearlman's book should be required reading.

Like "Of Mice and Men" or something.

Dude, I can't believe it took me that come around to reading that book. It opens up with such an incredible bang with the Irvin story.

I wish someone would write a similar book about the post-Johnson years. But then again it would be relatively uninteresting and a greek tragedy. It would not sell.

That would be the most depressing book to read. I'd honestly probably have to seek counseling.
