Damone Clark was rated as a potential 2nd round pick, but dropped in the draft to the 5th round since the NFL discovered a medical issue during the combine. This year, there is another draft prospect that was a potential 2nd round pick, but blew out his knee at the NFL combine, and is likely to drop in the draft. The Cowboys are bringing him to Dallas as one of their 30 prospect visits. His name is Andrew Vorhees, and he started at Guard for USC for many years. Look for the Cowboys to try to repeat their 2022 strategy by trying to select Vorhees in the 5th round, and let him sit for a year while recovering from ACL reconstruction.

I'm all for that move, good to hear Voorhees is in for a visit.

Heck, he might pull a Terrance Steele and get back early, really pulling a Damone Clark by playing when we thought it was a given redshirt year.

The Cowboys (or some team) will get a 2024 starting OL by drafting Vorhees. Somehow I don't think he makes it out of round 4 to start day 3.

I wouldn't be opposed to spending a fourth. At that point, whatever healthy guard we get isn't that likely to start, either, or be as good as Vorhees the next season.

ESPN's McShay had him rated at 115 overall before the injury. He'll get drafted still, but with the loss of a year's value and the added concern on his knees...he's a late round pick. Round six or seven I'd think.

Remember you are talking a 4-year contract. His first year, 25% of that, is a total loss and then he's gotta come back and develop...try to win a spot. Can't see him in the first 5 rounds.

It was the Cowboys medical staff that discovered the medical issue, during combine workouts, which sent Clarks draft stock plummeting.
Wink wink.

I hate it in this case. It will be a redshirt year. A wasted pick. We need to win now. Great prospect before the injury, but now he is a greater unknown. I rather pass.

Jerry Jones, ever the gambler.

When it comes to team building, other GM's try to get smarter. Jerry tries to get luckier.
