I didn't like McCarthy's playcalling on the last drive but I hate the Dan Campbell is a risk taker and McCarthy is a fool narrative by the media.

McCarthy was saved by his opposition‘s bigger mistake. It would be nonstop Big Mac must be fired right now if we had lost that game.
and really, maybe McCarthy's seat should still be a hot one...because he makes some bad in-game decisions.

and they will cost this team as the season moves into the playoffs.

Did you see his record. It is abysmal and not even 500.
Yes I know his record. Do you see how he & front office have7 changed the Lions? They're coming. It will not happen this year, but he has changed them, more recent from the Matt Patricia mess.

We....on the other hand, have been doing the same thing for years. Front runners, accident waiting to happen, clock management issues, players that shouldn't be on the roster, being outcoached, and more. We dodged a bullet last night. I'll take the win, but we shouldn't be boasting with our chests out by the coaching and player performances. We relying on Dak and CeeDee to save us every game on offense. We are predictable. We are undisciplined. We get beaten physically. And if we're going by coaching records, now I see why some have wanted coaches like Lincoln Riley to come in and fix the mindset.

Lions are locked into a home game in the playoffs and #2 or #3 seed unless 49ers lost the last 2 games. In reality, this game meant absolutely nothing for both teams except for seeding.
This may be one of the most misinformed posts of the year

You are thinking in terms of the game mattering to him & his team. It didn't. He was looking to build confidence and reward his guys. I'm guessing the refs screwed them on the reporting issue by the way they reacted. It looks like the play may have still been illegal though.
I disagree, they were still alive for the #1 seed they literally were in a 3 way tie with SF and Philly at 11-4 best record in NFC. Not anymore.

I'd rather go for two there than rely on a coin flip and maybe going 75 yards.
I hate overtime rules. I don't give a damn if the receiving team scores a TD both teams should get the ball on offense. A coin should not determine the winner of any professional sports game, only who gets the ball first.

His team knows he trusts them & will give them opportunities to win the game. That will pay benefits going forward.

They did get a mistake by us on the offsides (betting we will screw up is a pretty solid bet) & if a better pass by Goff they still convert so the decision wasn't as bad as it appears.

Ultimately though he doesn't want to play beyond regulation. He wanted to end it one way or the other and not burn energy & risk injuries with an OT. He had been planning all week to go for 2 if the situation arose. He knew exactly what would be at stake well before the game started and knew there was little downside to losing but a lot of benefit from winning.

He’s stuborn and lost the game
The stubbornness reminded me a bit of that Barry Switzer decision, when Dallas was stuffed on fourth and one (but the play didn’t count). So instead of seeing the light, Switzer
Doubled down and the Cowboys were stuffed again!

Division under the belt, no need to play for overtime and risk injuries. What if they end up.losing an important player in OT, then playoffs would be meaningless. If playoff hopes were on the line, then they wouldnt go for 2pts.

He's a great coach and even better person. He made a few poor football decisions tonight.
I have all the respect for Campbell and what he’s accomplished at the NFLs doormat (historical stats don’t lie).
Not kicking that early first half field goal hurt his team too.
But he may be trying to send a deeper message to his team.

I wonder what is said if Detroit converted? Given their playoff stance, it showed me......it's a "message" call to his team.

That's what I got out of it.......and probably some thoughts that we aren't physical. We should be in ER this morning from that gashing.
