I actually like Connor, but no way he's a Tampa 2 MLB. This isn't really a surprise, even if we didn't have cap issues.

I think we have to be targeting LBers in the draft now...there is 0 depth at that position and our two good ones have bad injury histories.

My theory is that they are restructuring all players that they plan to keep. If Free is not restructured, then I expect him to be a June 1st cut.

If they restructure a guy like Bernadeau just to save 1M under the cap, then I would expect them to restructure any player that saves more than that amount unless they are not planning to keep that player.

Yes I know but you get some now and it will be enough to get is under the cap, then we can sign say Winston and be right at the cap and know June 1st we will have more coming off

Doesn't have to be. With the restructuring already done, they're under the cap. Now, if they want to have money to sign any FA's, they still need to create more space, but that doesn't have to happen today. They're not going to be in play during the first wave of FA anyway.

I'm also not happy about keeping Scandrick but is what it is.

They weren't trying to restructure in the traditional sense. They asked him to take a pay cut. Not quite the same.
