We need young, innovative types.

These old, washed up, recycled, formerly fired HC have been left behind and surpassed.

We need a young coordinator or college HC to come in with new ideas and modern playbooks.

Dan Quinn is a fine coordinator, but he’s not a HC. If another team wants to take that chance then let them.
You know what would be fun. Deion Sanders as our next head coach with his son as the QB and Michael Irvin’s son as the WR. That would be awesome. I know Deion doesn’t want to coach NFL but in my day dream land that would be a fun situation.

turns out he got more out of Kyler Murray, than any other HC. SO MAYBE.
He also turned Jalen Hurts around after he washed out of Alabama losing his job to Tua. You can credit him for Baker Mayfields meteoric rise. Now he’s got Caleb Williams looking like the top pick in the next draft. The dude knows QBs. It’s a no- brainer if Jerry can sell him the job.

The list of great college coaches who failed in the nfl is very long.

Well, we’ve tried everything except a college coach in the past 27 years. Seems to me the last time we saw a Super Bowl was when we hired a college coach. Lincoln Riley has a long list of NFL QBs to his credit. If the plan is to develop Lance or draft a rookie next year, Riley makes more sense than anyone.

You think he’s better than the guy that made me ilrelavant a star QB? Because he couldn’t make Lance a nfl QB
That’s not what happened in SF. There are many reasons Lance fell out of favor in SF not the least of which was the emergence of Brock Purdy who is a classic Shanahan drop- back QB. Shanny likes guys who can sit in the pocket , process the defense and unload the football……. Matt Ryan, Jimmy G, and now Purdy. Lance was a project from day 1 and NOT the QB he preferred. Shanny wanted Zach Wilson or Mac Jones. Rumor is that John Lynch preferred Lances traits. So, Lance was never a Shanny pick. He was a project from day 1 who couldn’t stay healthy long enough to develop. When Sam Darnold won the backup QB position , the decision to save cap space and cut their losses was made. It’s incongruous to us cowboy fans bc our organization rarely ever admits mistakes and cut bait.

DQs defense was arguably worse than the offense

It was, they dug a hole the offense couldn't get out of.
True words. Our offense has drawn most of the fire, primarily aimed at Dak, but the defense was just as guilty. Everybody has been on Dak and MM's case, but what about the defense that allowed 42 freaking points? Where was DQ? Why didn't we make some serious
changes at 1/2 time? He uses Parsons on the DL almost entirely, but it wasn't doing much good against SF. In that game I think we could've used some additional LB help instead, but :banghead:

Can't say In disagree. As high as I have been on Quinn, he can't pull the troops together when they are dogging it.

DQ isn't what the Cowboys need. What they need is a full time GM. An owner who is happy with the franchise being successful and a HC who has the freedom to do his job. Dallas has none of that. Instead it's a franchise that is micromanaged to death by a part-time GM who is more interested in developing the brand based on early success he had.
Like Bob says. it starts at the top.
