well that’s good news to me, we get rid of flooding the defense with safeties and avoiding Belichick

I’m glad Quinn is gone. Mainly because it eliminates him from taking over for McCarthy if he’s not back after next season. Quinn did improve our defense but we couldn’t stop anyone in big games.
A year ago that would have been a hard sell. Today is certainly isn't.

Beat writers proving exactly what’s wrong with this franchise. “You’re going to miss him when he’s gone” insinuates that there is a ceiling that starts and ends with Dan Quinn and the thought of improving is inconceivable. Makes absolutely no sense

Curious if Quinn will still call the defense. I know he likes the booth, but can't be up there as the HC.

This reeks of desperation in my opinion. From both parties.
Once Johnson bowed out it was a forgone conclusion IMO. For DQ, it will be interesting how he build his staff. They have 5 picks in the top 100 and lots of money to spend. Talent still on the team as well.

Joe Whitt Jr is already on staff.
Worked under McCarthy 10 years in GB
Comes from Don Capers 3-4 background
The Passing Game coordinator ( guy who is really responsible for CB play)

Familiar with front office familiar with talent still fairly young at 45.

Logical promotion.
Unless Quinn takes him as his DC.

Quinn is betting that they hit on a qb. If they hit, he wins. If they don't, he loses.

i get that the club may opt for a vet DC, .. a proven past success C that hasn't been away from the game for several years

Which of these apparent DCs are best fit for Parsons & Co. ?
Mike Vrabel ?

Lewis hasn't coached in how many upon many years ? (decades?)
That's a risky Mike Nolan DC all over again.
Bellicheck remains the best in the business as a DC. Don't know how it would work, but that is the best fa DC on the open market and it's not even close!
