Nobody is answering the basic question.

Why would he, in any way, shape or form give it to Dan Reeves, who was going to be reporting to Wade, let alone Jerry?

Jerry Jones didn't give final say on personnel with Bill Parcells. He doesn't give it to Wade either.

I don't think it had anything to do with personnel decisions, and even if it did, Dan Reeves would have asked for something that his own boss wasn't getting...

I don't think it was over control either. Another article/thread says it was over a "time" element. Reeves was probably being tied to Wade, meaning he'd probably be gone in a year.

I agree, I don't think it was about the ability to cut players. That's not "trivial" as Dan put it.

This is the worst I have felt about this team in a good long time. Jerry has passed incompetence and moved into straight out looneyville.

That is plausible. I think this is a make or break year for Wade and the rest of the crew, including Garrett. He made a mistake with Garrett, giving him that much control and he can't fire him, otherwise he's out 3 million dollars for nothing. The same is the case with Dan Reeves. Dan probably wanted a longer role, looked at it as a way to actually get in the coaching league again, and Jerry only saw it in light of helping the offense this year.

Jerry may be thinking of cleaning the hole house next year...

Maybe he is just setting it up for Shanahan or Holmgren, as many on here suggest...

No, I don't think that had anything to do with it, either. Jerry even said later that it had nothing to do with GM-type powers, and Dan said he wasn't even interested in that.

It was just a typical weird Jerry tangent where you think, "Where's he going with this?"

And then a few minutes later, you realize he wasn't going anywhere, he was just talking in circles. Like he started out trying to draw some kind of analogy, and halfway through it he got so enamored with the sound of his voice he lost his way.

I just hated the whole tone of it. Dan sounded devastated, while Jerry kind of brushed it off like "Oh well, these things happen in negotiations, that's just the way it goes sometimes."

I certainly hope so. That would be lightyears better than the current situation we have now.

well this is what brady tinker said on dfw sports beat,

now i have learned to watch and be careful on what brady says

sometimes he is giving his opinion and not actual facts,

but brady tinker said on his show;
jerry jones wanted dan reeves to hover over wade and to take the coaching job when jerry said so, whatever the last part meant

and brady said he would eloberate more on that in his show monday evening

but again, be careful, sometimes things brady says, you need to hear other reporters saying such, and dont shoot the poster, i am just saying what brady said;
