Patrick had much more experience then Hornish did when he came over to the Cup Series. That's not even close to the same thing. Hornish spent 5 years in open wheel racing and then got a ride in the Cup Series.
Patrick raced in England in the British National Series against Formula One drivers starting in 1998 until 2002, where she caught a ride in Indy Car. She raced Indy Lite Series until 2005 where she moved to the IRL. She raced IRL until 2010 when she started racing in the Nation Wide Series. She did that, ARCA and IRL until the finish of 2011. After that she dropped IRL and raced in the Nation Wide Series full time until present where she is not in the Cup Series.
I just don't think you can say that she really got rushed into it. I think she put in time before she got a ride. I guess that's subjective but I can say for sure the Hornish got his Cup Ride with a lot less experience then did Patrick.
