She qualifies 41st.

What are the chances that she even finishes the race?

has anyone been more obsessed then WPB with Danica?
On anything?

someone needs to put a stake in the heart of this thread.

Why would that be? Because you're not liking the weekly reminder that her Daytona pole wasn't that impressive and she is a field filler anywhere she has to drive her car?

Would you want the thread ended if she was running up front every week?

All I intend to do is report how she did every week. Whether it's good or bad.

Danica finished 28th after starting 41st.

I should mention that Ryan Newman had a great day, finishing 7th.

Your Danica report....

28th place finish, 5 laps down. Just riding around in the back avoiding the wrecks. 28th in points.

Newman - 7th, 23rd in points.

Stewart - 31st (wreck), 24th in points.

Jr. fans have to be happy. He's running better than he's run in years. Last year he had the finishes but he didn't run this well. 4 straight top 10s and he's run up front pretty much the entire time.

4 of those 5 got caught up in accidents not of their own making and Montoya didn't wreck because they didn't have to use the jet dryers today. Danica barely out ran Joe Nemechek who's team probably has 1/10 of the budget her team has. I'm sorry but guys like Regan Smith, Trevor Bayne, Justin Allgier & Sam Hornish deserve a cup ride far more than she does but that debate has been made throughout this thread and I'm just beating a dead horse.

Sam Hornish had a ride but he never did anything with it. Penske Racing did just about everything imaginable to try and help him win in the Cup Series but he just didn't get it done. I don't know if he deserves a ride more then some of these other guys.

He was rushed into the Cup series like Danica and failed. Like Danica will fail. He's now developing in Nationwide and starting to do well. I believe he's the point leader so far this year.

Patrick had much more experience then Hornish did when he came over to the Cup Series. That's not even close to the same thing. Hornish spent 5 years in open wheel racing and then got a ride in the Cup Series.

Patrick raced in England in the British National Series against Formula One drivers starting in 1998 until 2002, where she caught a ride in Indy Car. She raced Indy Lite Series until 2005 where she moved to the IRL. She raced IRL until 2010 when she started racing in the Nation Wide Series. She did that, ARCA and IRL until the finish of 2011. After that she dropped IRL and raced in the Nation Wide Series full time until present where she is now in the Cup Series.

I just don't think you can say that she really got rushed into it. I think she put in time before she got a ride. I guess that's subjective but I can say for sure the Hornish got his Cup Ride with a lot less experience then did Patrick.

The "problem" with Danica for most Nascar fans, is that she's a clean driver. She doesn't push people out of her way, it's not her style. She's truly an open wheel driver and has kept that mentality even though she's had bumpers for a few years now. It's the reason she brings the car home most of the time, and that translates into solid finishes, money saved and good points earned. But it doesn't get the boys excited like when you use the ol' chrome horn to move somebody out of your way or give em' a nudge as they're entering a turn.

I agree for the most part. My post was a shot at the guy who thought she wouldn't finish the race because she qualified 41st. He only puts weight on positions, not on circumstances that lead to your starting or finishing position.

I notice you didn't give her any credit for avoiding the wrecks that occurred right in front of her, or for bringing a 41st qualified car up to 28th and keeping it clean and out of trouble at Bristol in the process. She didn't have a car to battle for the lead, but she made the best of a bad car.

NASCAR doesn't "need" DP and DP doesn't "need" NASCAR.

NASCAR needs more Martinsvilles, Bristols, Dovers etc. and real side by side, banging racing.

Mean while, ratings continue to drop. NASCAR may not need Danica but they sure need something.

I dont know, if there are enough Danica lovers out there %wise as there are in this thread, if she wins the ratings should soar! :lmao2: :lmao2:

Seriously, the racing just isnt as good as it once was. Its too much like Indy car. Not enough side by side.

Brian France may have inherited a great gig, but he isnt as good as his daddy or grandpa either.
