Daniel Jones playing hardball with Giants on new contract

Because in spite of only 1 playoff appearance that is a direct result of a crappy organization with a defense that has pretty consistently been in the bottom tier of the league in terms of rankings, Carr has shown he has the ability to win if but for a crappy defense.

Nooooo..... we're not going to use that "crappy organization and defense" as an excuse why quarterbacks succeed or not.

There's other quarterbacks in the league who were blamed for all things that happened during the season despite crappy organizations and bad play by defenses.... and they weren't given that crutch to lean on. They were blamed for all failures, so NOPE... toss that excuse out the door. Respectfully.

Derek Carr has one playoff appearance in 10 years and loss that one. People here told me great quarterbacks elevate the talent around them, no excuses.

Daniel Jones doesn’t even know how to throw a hardball.

Well neither Jones, Carr, or Dak should be paid what they are making then.

.
But why?? Carr has been in the league for almost 10 years an 0-1 playoff record. Almost 10 years in the league and only ONE playoff appearance.....

Jones already won his first playoff game but you'd be willing to pay Carr more. Please explain this logic.
For the record I wouldn't pay either. But if I need to tie up came to one of them, give me the guy that is a legitimate starting QB. People squint and see one in Jones, but he is not. Giants struggle anytime he has win through they air. He was better this year because they committed to an offense around Barkley, and Thomas helped hid is lack of pocket awareness. As for the playoff win, they beat the biggest paper tiger I have seen in years.

Neither QB is anyone I would want to pay, but Carr at least gives you a chance to run a functioning offense

What QB is not going to play hardball? This is why the agents' were so focused on pushing the QB contracts at an accelerated rate beginning with Cousins and then, Prescott,

Daniel Jones is crazy if he thinks he deserves anything near that amount. 15 TD QBs are not hard to find. Cooper Rush would have had 15 had he started an entire season.

He did 2 things well last year. Running, and protecting the football. One of those things will expire at some point in his career, and the other doesn't really matter if he can't produce more points by passing. Hats off for trying to cash in while he can, but unless he starts putting up another 1,000 to 1,500 yards and doubles his TDs, the Giants will never be a real contender with him at QB. The separation between him and anyone in the top 5 (all who he could potentially face in the playoffs) is just too big. He's playing like a bus driver QB from 2002. That's fine, but I can't see it working unless he goes on an Eli-type run in the playoffs and dramatically improves for 4 consecutive games.

I personally wouldn't take any discount. That's how we all negotiate for jobs. As Dak said when they asked him if he would take a hometown discount, he basically said that gambling revenues are going to be part of the pot, so teams can afford the higher salaries. Facts are salary cap is just an imaginary number and we don't have any access to the books of teams. Owners are paying, because they have the money.

They even get money from the DOD to advertise for the military, while claiming they are patriots. If you were a patriot, why are you taking money from the military? Just like they get tax-payers to fund new stadiums and if they don't they just bounce the team to a new city. Then they expect the players to take a "hometown" discount. F outta here with that crocodile tear nonsense.
You said a lot of facts in this post man even if some don’t like how blunt you are about it. Kudos

The question is whether he’s Jim Plunkett or Joe Flacco. But it’s also experience and situation. The later is the hardest thing to determine since these guys don’t play in a vacuum.
I don't think he's either.

What would Danny get on the open market? My guess would be maybe 30. Maybe. I don't believe he's all that respected around the NFL as far as talent. Which team would give him big money?
I'm guessing he would get a 1 year 10-15M prove it year. He's a Baker Mayfield that's taller and runs better. Better yes. But that difference doesn't put him at 45M a year.

I would take $150 mil and a super bowl over $200 mil and no super bowl any day.

I think Giants would be crazy to pay that money.. and I think Jones could be a very good QB for them.

Young guys are coming in and picking up Pro offences much quicker.. we have seen that rookies can have success and can be 'championship ready' within a couple of seasons. That means teams should start to get a lot tighter with money, lest you end up anchored to a mid range guy (see Dak/Cousins/Carr).

the only 'sure fire' guys that I would pay that much of the salary cap to get/keep would be Mahomes, Allen, Burrows.. I might be tempted to put big money in front of Lawrence.. maybe a short term, high dollar contract for Rodgers and/or Stafford..

I'd want to see Hurts produce that level for another year or two, As i've said.. I'm still keen to see if Wilson or Murray can turn it around but outside of that.. I really think teams need to get a lot smarter before offering franchise changing deals. Too much risk without the reward.

Jones threw 15 TD passes this season.

Let him walk, tag Barkley, and draft Tanner McKee at the end of the first round. Tyrod Taylor can start until McKee is ready, meanwhile get some offensive weapons.

Giving Jones $40+ million for multiple years makes no sense.

Tanner McKee is ours early in the 3rd round.

I get you. What I’m saying is that the owners are not really being truthful with the books. You don’t have to take a discount, as you don’t have to buy what they are selling.

I think teams are starting to realize that ‘today’s market’ is totally out of whack and teams just need to start setting limits and saying no.
May Jerry be the first to step up to the plate. I think it's just sickening what these QBs think their worth.
