Crap Dak got 40M, nobody thought he would and here we are.Not at all.
He’s not getting $45 million. Not from them, not from anyone else.
They can take him for two years and pay far less than $45 million a year.
That buys them time to find their next guy.
He'd be smart to take that. But I've yet to see a QB take under market value from the team that drafted them coming off their rookie deal.He ain't getting that......they'll tag him twice and let him walk first. But don't rule out a short-term deal.........maybe 3 years with 2 years guaranteed in the $35-38M range.
I understand your line of thinking, and it applies to every other position except QBs coming off a rookie contract. If you want to give the QB you drafted a 2nd contract, it's top market value no matter how good he is.45 million is a laughable figure and have no idea what Jones has proven to even earn half that amount. Jones was very good scrambling, and managed to stay healthy this year, but also threw only 15 tds.
I would just franchise him too, if he holds out so be it, I would go for Carr and trade Jones.
The thing with him is this is the only season he's consistently played at a fair high level and just so happens to be a contract year. If I'm his GM, he has 2 options a modest short-term deal as mentioned above or a tag. In fact, I would him IF you choose the tag, I reserve the right to tag you again in 2024 regardless of how successful the season ends. He'd be smart to take that. But I've yet to see a QB take under market value from the team that drafted them coming off their rookie deal.
maybe they let both dudes walk.I doubt it. More likely they tag him and Barkley walks.
Since when is Dak an average qb? Is Dallas an average 12 win team? I bet you think they are mediocre with the 12 wins.Funny how so many slam Jones and say they would never pay Jones the money being reported yet they defend Dak and his contract,,,,,so don't pay one average QB yet pay Dak, another average QB. Too funny.
Since 2016.Since when is Dak an average qb?
Forget all that. Remember Sam Darnold on the Jets? They tossed him. Had they offered him a 25M dollar a year contract he would have refused. QBs have a thing going where they will not accept an under top market value from the team that drafted them. The thing with him is this is the only season he's consistently played at a fair high level and just so happens to be a contract year. If I'm his GM, he has 2 options a modest short-term deal as mentioned above or a tag. yes, he got his team as far as dak did, (with a lot less to work with ) and his run ability is better than daks.In fairness, he had no weapons other than SB & still got them to the playoffs. So, I gotta give him some credit.
Lamb ?Really? Name them. Make the distinction in players.
Good. Hopefully he torpedoes the Giants just as much as Dak's contract is hurting us. Misery love company.
Our Oline is better (but this year was the best Jones ever had), Our defense is better, they had no receivers so that's us buy a landslide, RB's might have been a push. ST's probably us but I won't say for sure as I don't really remember what their ST was like.Really? Name them. Make the distinction in players.
I’d just start over. And that’s exactly how we got to this same spot with Prescott,
What are they supposed to do? It’s either pay him well beyond what he is worth or start over.
