I'm thinking Austin doesn't feel so well after today.
We have at least one CB I can think of who could keep him company. :D

•At the Indianapolis Scouting Combine, Wes Welker’s 40-yard dash time was 1.7 seconds. When scouts double-checked their stopwatches, they saw it had shrunk to 0.7 seconds. They then brought the data to NASA to see if such a speed was humanly possible. NASA said yes, it’s possible, if you’re Wes Welker. NASA then officially petitioned the government to change our unit of time from “seconds” to “Welkers.” This prompted Hollywood to change popular movie titles to Gone in 60 Welkers, Thirty Welkers Over Tokyo, and the Italian classic Trenta Welkeri D’amore (Thirty Welkers of Love)

•If you play defensive back in the N.F.L. and you wake up on Monday morning, it’s because Wes Welker spared your life.

•Wes Welker once ran so fast that he went back in t
ime and lined up against Ronnie Lott, Dick “Night Train” Lane, Mel Blount, Mel Renfro, Willie Brown

j/k fastest combine time was 4.6 but he was the " product of a system"

He doesn't need yo have the ability to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. All he needs is to get open, catch the ball, and extend the drives...something that we ended up lacking from anyone not named Owens. I really like this kid and hope he turns into a star.

I like him....anything to get Crayton from returning punts and/or Austin from dropping passes is great news to me.

Has anyone signed Bowman yet? I can't believe this guy fell so far so fast the past few months. I know he isn't fast, but we should at least give him a look. ??????

I don't know if he has the ability to become a star, but he is a tenacious competitor that leaves it all on the field. He will sacrifice his body to earn a roster spot. I don't know if he's better than Austin , Stanback or Jefferson but if things don't work out with Glenn or a trade ... he's got a shot.

I heard Welker was soo fast that in a high school baseball game he hit a linedrive up the middle that hit himself in the head as he slid into 2nd base. Now thats fast!

Just give me a wide out that will finish a route each and everytime in reg. season or playoffs, that can react and adjust to Romo's abiltiy to free-lance and then catch that little side arm flip in an open field

Give me a wr that recognizes blitz pac's as well as Romo and runs into the vacated spot each and everytime.

Just move the chains when needed, break a long when when available.

Look, when Wes was going to Tech, I mean I knew who he was. I follow college football pretty seriously. I spend about 1 month a yr in lubbock, and I have never heard of this guy.

Doesnt mean he wont be serviceable, just saying, I dont think he was the player in college that wes was.

Here's the reality of this sujbect:

Barring injury and/or a major (negative) change in his attitude, this kid IS going to be very productive as a slot receiver for some team in the NFL that has the smarts to use him correctly.

Anybody who doesn't see that this kid has the raw tools and tenacity to become a good receiver just can't spot talent. Period. Why is it that we are so quick to write him off because he is still raw as a receiver?

Amendola has "it"! Hopefully we will be patient and let him develop "it". I would be leery of cutting him and trying to sneak him on to the PS, just like I KNEW that we would lose QB Matt Moore from '07 if we cut him. As raw as Matt Moore was last year as a rookie, from the moment I watched him in the preseason game against the Colts I knew that he had "IT" - he just needed time for development.

Please - let's give Amendola time.

Admittedly, I know nothing about this guy. However, I watched some of the videos of him and he seems to be able to make every conceivable type of catch and damn can he make people miss. He seems more than fast enough to me. Let's see now, fast, quick, and appears to have great hands and be fearless. I see why we signed him. Just maybe one of the young receivers we already have should start worrying. I'm just saying.

I guess 32 teams passing on him thru 7 rds means that nobody but you gets that he has "it!" This might be the most homer post I have ever seen. The guy may be servicable, but I am thinking that you might be his older brother or something.

I must be related to him too because I am very impressed with what I saw in that video. Distant cousins or something... He appears more than capable of making it in this league and I hope it's with us. The guy is like Welker reincarnated.

32 teams passed on Pierre Thomas through 7 rounds last year and he somehow found his way onto the field. Have some faith...

No, liking his youtube highlights doesnt make you related to him. Making a post like the one that i responded to earlier...does.

danny is one bad ace receiver.

i just saw this thread. trust me on this....amendola will be a great addition to this football team.

i'm so happy i could drink a few more beers. i've watched him since he played for the woodlands highlanders in houston.

he's like a cross between mike renfro and wes welker.

gritty, tough, humble, deceptive speed and the heart to go out and make plays.

Cutting Matt Moore to add the likes of Oglesby and Rogers to the team was a boneheaded decision - just awful.

Just like 32 teams passed on Welker in 2004,huh? Or Romo in 2003? Or, if you were even a gleam in your father's eye at the time, how about I go old school on your ornery butt and go back to 1981 when EVERY team in the league passed on a CB from a small school named Everson Walls?

I remember like it was yesterday reading posts on this very board on draft day 2003 when some of the guys were ecstatic about the FA signing of Romo (hadn't heard of him at the time) and were saying then that we had an absolute steal. Was Romo raw? Absolutely. Could we see then that he had some serious skills (even without his pedigree in Division II) and just needed time and good coaching? Indeed.

All I'm saying is that the kid has skills, but needs time and the right coaching. And I was right about Matt Moore.

If this makes me a homer, so be it. It's just a sports message board, son. Move on!

Exactly. To make matters worse, he hung over 200 yards on us when we played the Panthers last year.
