Darnold > Prescott

In a weird way I would agree, however that is not strictly based on ability alone. Dak is the better quarterback looking strictly at talent, but the Dak issue the Cowboys have is that his positive value as a QB gets neutralized by his salary to the point where he is pretty much a league average value at QB. Darnold making $30m per year actually becomes a net positive for his team and a much better value for his team despite a lesser impact.
This is an answer .

I think they are more strategic with this than you think. The reason for not being more aggressive in FA last year? The parsons negotiations. The year prior? The lamb/Dak negotiations.

They weaponize the cap to cry poor to the fans.

Everything these guys do signifies cheap, including trading for guys like Kenneth Murray instead of just signing a backer in FA. When he can Jerry always sets his contracts up so he doesn’t dip into team funds and can use the revenue sharing checks when they start to hit team accounts.
Disagree again.

Contract battles keep the Cowboys in the news. I think it's that simple.

Look at it this way. Jerry is football dumb. He's tried everything in FA and nothing has worked. So, now he's acquiring players who were high draft picks. He's not football smart enough to figure out why they've failed, as he's not willing to do any homework/analysis. His thought process doesn't go any further than: "1st round pick, they must be good."

This is just the latest fad Jerry is trying as he desperately attempts to make it work w/o using tried and true strategies. He simply wants to say "SEEEEEE, I TOLD YOU".

Spot on! Reminds me of the last game of the season against the eagles where if Dallas wins they are in the playoffs. The defense held the Eagles to 13 points. Dak leads Dallas to 3 FGs.
Wentz was playing with WRs off the street and Dak couldn’t do jack. He choked big time.
Wasn't that the game Dak was playing hurt and could barely throw the ball? I remember being pissed they even trotted him out on the field that game(if it was) and had a better chance with Rush or whoever it was at the time

All their arguments are faith-based. "IF Dak had xyz, he could do abc...". But when Dak actually had those circumstances, he couldn't do it!!! It's all faith-based...based on what Dak does to the Giants!!!

It was the last game of the season, everyone is "hurt". If he wasn't injured, don't wanna hear it. If he won, we wouldn't be talking injuries. Mahomes played an entire postseason - and won a SB - on a busted ankle. Brady won the SB with a torn meniscus. Dak's right arm and prefrontal lobe SUCK in high pressure moments...no injury excuse is necessary.

By 'wash' if you mean 'the biggest boat anchor in the world' your right.
During Dak's "near-MVP" season 2 years ago, Darnold was a journeyman and the threads were, "Are Dak and Mahomes the best QBs?" Dak-stans didn't seem to care that he had a pretty good line, very good WRs, etc...and Darnold was a journeyman.

NOW...it's a "wash". Turns out they actually the same QB, but - gulp - Darnold has had more investment than Dak?!?

POPPYCOCK!!!

Okay im sorry.... you want to play the semantics game. I was wrong, it was only Dak who didn't score more than 12 points.... it wasn't the responsibility of our offense.

Did you know we tied for the most penalties in a playoff game in NFL history?

If the penalties never hurt us, then why haven't there ever been any teams in NFL history that has won a playoff game vs a number one defense after committing 14 penalties?

Again, how did i move a goalpost by telling the truth. Our 14 penalties really happened in real life. So once again, if no quarterback in NFL history has ever won a playoff game vs a number defense in the playoffs..... why would you expect a non-elite quarterback like Dak to pull of something that ELITE quarterbacks have never done?

While you think of an answer for that.....

You said Dak couldn't command and respect and discipline of his troops as to why we had league record 14 penalties in the playoff game.... the you said, oh well, Sam Darnold did?

You just lied my friend. The Seahawks didn't overcome 14 penalties vs a number one defense in that playoff game. So Sam Darnold didn't get his troops through that penalty filled obstacle.

No quarterback in history has ever overcome 14 penalties in a playoff game vs a number one defense. With that said, I enjoy debating with you but things would be much better without lies. No need for that.
The Seahawks didn't overcome 14 penalties...because Sam Darnold had his offense together. Unless you want to say Dak is uniquely unqualified to lead men. You seem to imagine Dak the victim of some cosmic scheme...and anyone who doesn't provide Dak the same excuses you don't make for other QBs...they are in on the scheme and "lying".

I did not "lie"...and your issues are with the facts. So much so, that you feel as though exposing me as a liar is the same as proving your point. You haven't and it ain't.

The GOALPOSTS are moved because you find an excuse for WHY DAK'S PERFORMANCE SUCKED. His offensive unit sucked WHICH HE LEADS. Funny how "we" got 14 penalties but the wins belong to Dak. NO, Dak owns the penalties just like he owns the wins. He must overcome them and/or command the respect of his unit to prevent it. It starts in practice.

But guess what? IF THE QB SUCKS AND GOES DEER-IN-HEADLIGHTS, he can't rally the troops, stop the bleeding or compete LIKE SAM DARNOLD DID WHEN HIS DEFENSE HAD ISSUES WITH A GREAT OFFENSE.

$60mm/year....bought us nothing but misery and cheerleading fans who apologize for Dak.

You're not wrong about any of that, but more than one thing can be true here.

To me its not just about the contract disputes, those are just one piece of the puzzle, but its also about how the Cowboys make their splash offseason acquisitions which are typically through trade. Free agents require checks to be written right away, trades often come with teams paying part of a players salary and dont require the Cowboys to do anything until game checks start.

Jerry is very hit and miss at picking players....he's also a business over football mindset.

Good stuff.

In a trade, the team receiving the player only takes on the actual salary, when a large chunk of the money is paid through bonuses.

Damn man, I really did respect debating with you but you choose to continuously lie.... thats sad bro.

Nowhere did I say the wins belong to Dak. Wins and losses are a team record NOT a quarterback's record. So if I in any way insinuated that wins were a quarterback thing then I sincerely apologize because I was wrong.

With that said.... you actually blamed 14 playoff penalties on the quarterback. Anyone who can read and comprehend basic sentences can see that so you can't backpeddle out ot this one.

I just want to say THANK YOUUUUU!!!! You have literally proved my point that Dak gets blamed for things out of his control. This man just blamed Dak for something that coaches are responsible for!!!

I would love to ask my fellow brethren here this question...

Name one other quarterback in 100 years of NFL football that has been blamed for team penalties (offensive, defensive, special teams) like this man just blamed Dak for????

You were doing great until you brought up Wentz. Remember when people said Wentz was a better quarterback than Dak?

How'd that work out.....

His new name is Carson (Spaulding) Wentz because he bounces around the league like he's in a trampoline contest. With that said, leave Wentz out of sentences referring to Dak. The point is more effective when you atleast use quarterbacks on Dak's lever or better than him.

You said 14 penalties had to be "overcome". OK, which unit accounted for the penalties that Dak had to "overcome"?

See, this is where you expose yourself as a "liar" by YOUR standard. There's context to the 14 penalties.

14 penalties called.

9 accepted for 89 yards.

15 of the yards were roughing the kicker - biggest chunk.

At least 6 penalties on offense for 39 yards.

At least 2 penalties on defense for 10 yards.

The remaining yards are split between offense and defense.

So...the penalties on offense, my contention is that they are on Dak's "watch". I don't blame Dak for the special teams penalty or Randy Gregory untimely jumping offsides. But I DO INCLUDE DAK in the offensive woes because he's the QB, captain, leader and he has huge influence on how prepared they are. AND if Dak had won the game or had huge yards, we don't hear the credit to the o-line, or the TE, or the WRs he is CONTINUALLY blessed with. You guys credit Dak. Well Dak SHARES in the spoils of victory and defeat.

Unless you got an agenda? :)

What has Dak done that Wentz hasn't? 2 playoff wins...OK. But really...if Philly had kept building around him, those great teams they had...Carson could have won 2 playoff games with those squads, right?

One guy was rightly dumped and the other should have been discarded at the same time.

You said i lied. The Dallas Cowboys had 14 penalties in that playoff game vs the 49ers who fielded a number one defense. *Thats the truth.

The Dallas Cowboys are tied for the most penalties in a playoff game at 14 penalties. *Thats the truth.

No team in NFL history has ever won a playoff game vs a team fielding a number one ranked defense. *Thats the truth.

Dak, NOT THE HEAD COACH OR COACHING STAFF, is the first quarterback in NFL history to be blamed and responsible for his team committing 14 penalties on a Dallas Cowboys fan forum. *Thats the truth.

Now give me the names of ANY quarterback in ANY game from preseason games to the Superbowl who has ever been blamed or held accountable for team penalties.

I will patiently and respectfully wait....

14 called. But some of them were not accepted. In context, we're talking about "what Dak had to overcome". Well, he didn't have to "overcome" penalties that had zero material impact on the game.

The "14 PENALTIES" banner you keep waving is nothing more than Dak Fan Flag. That's why you are foaming at the mouth about the penalties called...because it makes it appears though Dak had no choice but to fold. No...better QBs could have overcome that and have. 89 yards of penalties vs 2 soul-crushing INTS and wildly inaccurate passes?

I dunno, I blame the guy who is credited with wins, is the team leader, highest paid and whose unit was most dysfunctional. Call me crazy or call me FAIR.
