Darnold > Prescott

Well, Sam Darnold led the Seattle Seahawks to their franchise 5th NFC Conference finals. Will be his first, which makes him a better QB than Dak Prescott.

Sure, all the stats will be thrown out saying Prescott is but stats are for players contracts.
Fans --which Dallas fans are starving for-- ONLY care about ONE thing....WINS.

Then Dallas fans will say Prescott has more wins that Darnold then I say, the ONLY stats fellow starving Cowboys
care about is (FIRST) getting to a NFC Conference finals, which Prescott, nor Romo, has ever accomplished.

Then Dallas fans could/might say, Seattle has a better team around Darnold.
Then again, I say it is about WINS and if the Seahawks have a better team, which now Demarcus Lawrence plays
for and a ProBowler, then that blame directly on the grocery shopper. He buys the groceries and hired the coaches.

Like Demarcus Ware, Mr. Lawrence and future ( or current) Dallas players must get out of Dallas if they want to even play in a NFC Conference game because Jerry's Pride will never allow this franchise to see another conference finals.
It is a business first and the players knows

So I hope Mr. Lawrence gets a chance to play in a Supwerbowl, maybe win it and down the line, sign his one day contract as a Dallas Cowboy as Mr. Ware did.
The obvious comparison then is Justin Herbert.

Sam Darnold > Herbert (and Warren Moon)

Darnold sure had a high bar set in front of him on Saturday:

"Sam, we need you to go out there and get us seven points."

I disagree with the entire premises of the OP. Quarterbacks don't produce wins...teams & organizations do.

The long road through NFL history is littered with the career-corpses of superior QBs who foundered futilely while laboring for dysfunctional franchises. The reverse also being true...how many QBs thought to be unworthy of the position have had their careers resurrected with a change of scenery?

Give DAL Seattle's defense, and we'd all be making Super Bowl party plans.

Prescott is playing better than he was in 21 - 22'. Enough to make a title game or Superbowl? His chances are better now than they were back then but that will also depend on how fast the defense can get turned around. That might take at least two seasons given it's current state.
No, he isn't playing better. He's the same QB as he's always been. Doesn't matter if he has a top defense and top running game at the same time (which he has had). Dak cannot win 3 straight playoff games against top competition. He would have done it by now with all the opportunities he's already had.

Dak ain't winning with any team, because he can't compete at that level even when he does have top 10 defenses and league leading running backs. He folds too easily to the pressure of expectations. No way he wins 3 straight playoff games. He just can't do it.

Would you offer up the same assessment of Josh Allen?

Give me Dak and our offense with Seattle's def and we're a SB caliber team. Put Darnold in our offense and our defense and he's sitting at home right now.
Well to be fair we're still sitting at home with Dak. But I agree that if the Cowboys had the Seahawks defense this season would look a lot different.

The Dallas offense is better than their defense, no doubt. A big reason for that is the resources we have pored into the offense vs the defense (and we seem to hit better players on offensive players than defensive).

Dak as a rookie walked into the best offensive line in the NFL with 1st rounders like Freebird, Martin and Tyron. Also we had the number 1 RB in football and a Prime Dez and Whit.

We kept on adding offensive talent along the line with out top picks as well as with a 1st for CD and Amari Cooper, to make Dak comfortable. How many teams spent 6 1st round picks (33%) in 15 years on the Oline?

A more balanced approach to team building would have made our D much better, but to be fair we blew some high picks on Taco and Mazi too.
Dak has had a top 10 scoring defense for 70% of his career. He's had good enough teams to win; he just hasn't stepped up in the biggest moments.

The ignorance of this post is why so many others don’t post. Hate is encouraged and hate rules here.

Where did those defenses rank in the playoffs?
Could you please explain how that's relevant? Here are some numbers for you:

2018 Seahawks: defense gave up a garbage time TD to win 24-22, but they were solid

22-30 Rams: 1/10 on 3rd down, average game. Couldn’t keep pace and extend drives; run defense was garbage but it's not like the offense didn't have opportunities to match

2021 Niners

17-23: 7 offensive points going into the 4th quarter: 23/43 1 TD 1 INT 69 RTG

2022

31-14 Bucs: 25/33 305 4 TD 0 INT 143 RTG; did a great job pounding on an 8-9 Bucs team that shouldn’t have even sniffed the playoffs

19-12 Niners: 23/37 206 yds 1 TD 2 INTs 63 RTG

2023 Packers
32-48: I could put Dak’s “stat pad” game when GB went into prevent in the 3rd quarter, but his 89.8 RTG doesn’t tell the story

It's funny because after the KC game this year there were 2-3 threads about "why did it take so long to go to Schotty" or "we found one with Schotty"
Jury is out on Schotty
He may be a good/great HC but the Joneses will undermine him at every step so we wont know while he is here

I can hear that sarcasm from here
Your meter is broken. Not sarcasm at all.

Why wouldn't (we) be able to evaluate QB play? Regardless of any other aspect.

Not being adept enough? Too much agenda?

Those are good answers.

Until Guyton I thought the only thing they knew how to evaluate is offensive linemen.

Certainly not defense.

Then they got lucky with an undrafted free agent and 4th rd QB to middling results for the last 2 decades.
So yeah, no proof whatsoever of actual QB evaluation skills.

I was thinking us here at the zone.

We know the defense was bad. We know Jerry is old, decrepit and senile. We know other teams have better coaching groups. Some people have...literally said...dak gets a free pass on everything.

nope.
