Darren McFadden has yet to see the field during Dallas Cowboys training camp. That could change this weekend.
After doing some side work Wednesday, McFadden will test out his tweaked hamstring today and decide if he can practice on Saturday (the Cowboys have Friday off), per the Dallas Morning News.

"I went out there and did a couple of good runs for a few days and I'm feeling good, didn't get sore or anything," McFadden said Wednesday. "I did a little straight-line running and a little cutting, so I got a good feel for it. It's one of those things where the trainers want to make sure I can put a couple of days back to back before they throw me back out there. I'm just looking forward to getting back out there on the field. No soreness or swelling the next day, so definitely a good sign for me."
If the frustration level is rising in Cowboys camp about McFadden's inability to stay on the field, it begins with the running back.
"Man, I hate (watching teammates practice without me), especially me being here on a new team," McFadden said. "I want to be in there getting those reps with those guys and fighting with them. It's one of those deals right now that I just have to sit back and be patient and let it heal up all the way."

He tweaked the hammy because his calves have been on milk cartons since pop warner.

Hamstring injuries are so alien to me. I'm not a quick twitch athlete and speed isn't my game so maybe that's why. I've strained my quads several times playing football and usually can't spring for 3-4 weeks after without it feeling like my quads are as tight as an iron rod with a hot knife in it. Does a tweaked hammy feel the same way?

It's really frustrating when these soft tissue injuries take players off the field. They drag out, and you never know when it's going to stop. You do just get tired of hearing about it.

I always think of Terry Glenn. He was good for a soft tissue injury for several years, but his last 2-3 he started to figure out his body and prepared in a way that prevented them. Then his knee gave out.

I just want to say.. It's nice to be able to get along with you before the season starts.

I just want to go ahead and apologize for our future arguments.

lol, I look forward to it. We may disagree on different things, one big thing we both agree on is seeing the Dallas Cowboys in the SB

the thing that gets me - I mean in the SEC he had 785carries 4,590 yards

and I don't think he missed a game

but if he can't do it in the pros

I am all for cutting him

If you check out his injury history which I posted you'll see that every time McFadden has had a hamstring issue it kept reoccurring all season.

You would almost rather them just break a bone. At least there is a predictable time table.

Well.. It wont reoccur here.. I imagine that if he gets hurt again before the season starts he'll be gone.

I don't think Dallas is going to play this game with him.

Off course he is feeling good. He left a poor team in Oakland to come to the most glamorous athletic team in the universe. And he is coming off of a paid vacation. And he half a good O line. And he is being paid, all be it a minimal salary that is four times higher than most Forumites are paid.
Something be wrong if he was not feeling good.

If you look closely at his legs and quads, he looks as if he had polio as a child and he just got out
of braces on both legs. He may be built for speed and the wide open college game but, those
legs just can't take the NFL punishment that LB's dish out on every tackle. No wonder he's
hurt after every game he plays. I would give him a couple of weeks to get ready to play and if
he falters only a little bit, it would be time to cut bait.
