The expectations by many of us were that it wouldn't take long before he suffered his first injury. He's already exceeded most expectations that his first injury would occur early in the regular season. lol

All I can say is I hope this is more about trainers being overly cautious given his history with hamstrings. Right now just want to see him on the field and see what he is able to do. Meantime Dez tweeked him hamstring yesterday and I hope the trainers are overly cautions with his as well

If you look closely at his legs and quads, he looks as if he had polio as a child and he just got out
of braces on both legs. He may be built for speed and the wide open college game but, those
legs just can't take the NFL punishment that LB's dish out on every tackle. No wonder he's
hurt after every game he plays. I would give him a couple of weeks to get ready to play and if
he falters only a little bit, it would be time to cut bait.

Am I wrong to laugh at this?

McFadden's history of reoccurring hamstring injuries makes his a real concern. He injured it back in June and claimed it was 100% after he returned later that month and here we go again with the same injury. He's going to end up missing games this season we'll just have to see how many. If the injury continues to hamper him in camp and preseason he might get cut.

I can't disagree with any of that. I will say this is not the same hamstring, I thought it was a well but he tweeked the right hamstring at OTA and the left one a week before heading to Oxnard during training. As I said right now just want to see him out on the field and in the pre season games and go from there.

He's had issues with both his hammy's over his career and a comment by Stephen Jones a few days ago made it appear frustration is building with him. We're seeing why the Cowboys took little risk signing him to mostly an incentive based contract.

We know he can run downhill when healthy. My concern with him not practicing is missing blocking assignments and not generally getting in the flow of timing with Romo and the OLine.
It would be horrific to miss all this TC time to get healthy for the regular season, only to forget that blitzing LB on Romo's blindside the first game of the season because he's not familiar with his assignments.
Now I just reread my comments and said, "Dang it's Friday just after 12am. Why create something to worry about? Go have a beer and enjoy life".
Real football in approximately 1 month. Ya Baby!!

Yeah, that's a pretty low bar! A limbo bar!

Yes but it is the low bar you have placed as well as others. You could be right, for me I have my doubts as well but willing to let him get out there and show himself.

I'd be happy with that. I'm just sick and tired of having to wait for that day to come. If he's not out there tomorrow, I'll be screaming even louder for the team to bring someone in.

No doubt he is here on a team friendly deal for the very reason you have stated. I think McFadden is also frustrated, I don't think he or any player wants to be sitting and not being able to contribute. To spend your life as a little kid through college and into the pros takes a very competitive person unfortunately for McFadden these hamstring issues have plagued him but not something I think he takes pleasure in. Same with guys like Miles Austin I have no doubt about the guys desire and heart but hamstrings have hurt him through out his career.

I think sometime fans go on the attack on these guys who have been dealing with injuries as if this is how the player wanted things to go. By the same token they will give passes to players who are thugs and make excuses for them.

McFadden needs to get out there and prove himself, if he doesn't then I agree he should be released but I don't say that as an attack on the man himself

I'm not opposed to bring in more competition with McFadden out there or not. I understand fully the concerns that a lot of people have with McFadden given the history he has had with hamstrings.

I don't think that will be the case, the RB has to be able to read and react to the blitzer and sometimes it is not the guy that the QB or the RB was expecting but the RB still has to adjust and pick him up. McFadden has consistently been good and picking up blitzers. Only issue I have is the health issue

If its hamstring issues I don't see him contributing much, if at all. Those hammys just don't go completely away and even more so if your a running back.

Steven Jones stated on the radio, that they are holding him out longer to be safe..If it was up to DMC he would already be on the field.....He tested the ham yesterday and he said it feels great...Jones said they are not in a hurry...

Something tells me that these trainers and coaches know what they are doing.

I'ts a long season. Last year they kept Romo out on Wednesdays...now they are keeping Romo and Witten out on certain days, and now this McFadden deal.

Football is rough! And the more that the trainers keep some players out tells me that they are planning for the long haul...which is to win the Division, then the NFC, then try and get the goal...the Superbowl.

It worked to perfection last season...let's hope that it works again.

Did we have a change of staff regarding injuries in between last season and the year before? I can't remember but it seemed like night and day as far as injuries were concerned. Sure---we had our fair share of injuries especially on defense but nothing like the two seasons before.

I'm not going to worry about them delaying DMC's entrance until he gets hurt on the field. We don't even know how he 'hurt' it. When he gets out there tomorrow or Monday, I will have an open mind.

I can't answer that question. It's as if the trainers are now teaching caution to veteran players because they already know what playing football is all about. But, I think that dialing some older veterans back, they are planning for the season.

It's like a race horse and a goat. A race horse is hard to keep calmed down because they are so trained to run, run, run. They cannot feed them corn or hay or oats....they just will not calm down. However, when a trainer puts a goat into the stall of a race horse, they calm down a lot and can relax and eat and rest up for when the race does happen. This usually happens after a training period when they put the horse in and then the goat.

Professional football players, as competitive as they are, need a goat to calm them down to stay healthy for the duration of the season.
