Ricky Lumpkin, DT for the raiders streams CS:GO on twitch.tv and I asked him about McFadden and how he would do behind the cowboys line. He said McFadden is "fast as ****" and he is not at the "tail end of his career" and also said "he will eat behind the cowboys o-line if given the chance." Mods if you need to move this go ahead, I was unsure where to post it. You can find his channel @ http://www.twitch.tv/lump_lump . Seems like a real cool dude. I don't know how often he streams because I found his channel just now before going to bed and wanted to share with the board.

He's got a pretty sick PC setup.

I believe McFadden is criminally underrated right now.

Situation is key and it hard to have a bigger change in situation then a porous OL with a rookie QB versus this OL and Romo.
As to the speed comment, yea I think that is very underestimated.
McFadden has been one of the fastest major college running backs of the last 20 years.
He may have been the fastest to enter the league coming out of a P5 conference with over 4500 yards.
This guy was 2nd in the Heisman race TWICE at Arkansas playing SEC defenses.

I would not at all be shocked if McFadden made the Pro Bowl this year.

He would have won the 1st year, if Spurrier had given him 1 vote, he didn't like that DMC ran for over 200 yds on his team, plus he was pulling for Tebow....

Fwiw, I love these sorts of hearsay threads. Give me any line on any player from a named source --verified or not-- and I want to hear it.

I hope McFadden pans out big time. I'm skeptical, because he hasn't done it in a long time, but I'd love to see it happen. We definitely do have an opportunity for the right back to be productive. Of the guys on our roster, though, I think Randle is the best fit for our current scheme. I like Williams' style and personality, but he's got significant issues. I like McFadden a lot personally, too. He seems like a really good, hard working dude and a good teammate. And I think he ought to do really well on the stretch zone plays. I worry about him a bit more in terms of his health and his ability to be patient in between the tackles, but we're about to find out if that's justified or not.

I feel like I've been burned by the RB position over the past 12 years as much as I had been burned by the QB pre-Romo. Hambrick looked OK as a backup, but Richie Cunningham was a better tailback than he was. Julius Jones looked GREAT for half a season, then at best he had sparks. Eddie George was said to "have some tread" left on his tires...the tires were made for a wal-mart Mongoose bicycle at that point though. Marion the Barbarion was a nice weapon with a crap OL, but if there weren't holes he wasn't doing a ton. Murray has been a tease and when he finally does something, he is gone. Felix Jones was fast and fragile.

Maybe McFadden will be great here - I really am encouraged to see these stats. But 4-5 years of history does NOT support it at this point. If history is wrong it will be an amazing story - I know that Raiders fans definitely think highly of him. But I refuse to get sucked into hype in June.

Maybe so...But, keep an open mind and all will be revealed come training camp time.

All of these accolades are from 7 years ago man. He has done nothing in this league. 1 1000 yard season in the better part of a decade. Frankly, I am surprised he is still in the league.

That take makes a lot of sense but at the same time I disagree.

I think Randle has great potential here but is still too much of a knucklehead to ever truly achieve anything with us.

I can see the patience thing but not sure I really care.
Some of the holes this OL makes call for simply running fast past DBs.
With this OL I am very intrigued by a pure speed element, especially given how well the WR block down field.

It is VERY possible McFadden got fat and happy in Oakland.
But I also believe this has re-energized him. Chance to start for a playoff team for a team so close to where he grew up?
He lost his starting job last year and then was forced to switch teams for peanuts financially.
I think he is hungry again and brings a top 10 RB skillset to bear in the fight for the job.

I could be totally wrong but I'd like to see McFadden as the starter, Randle as the change of pace and short yardage guy(tho used more than last year) and RW as the 3rd down back.
I'd release Dunbar if RW could get through camp healthy.

I expect one of the bigger stories in the NFL through 3 or 4 weeks will be the Cowboys running game not missing a beat minus DeMarco.
Which isn't meant as a dig at Murray at all, just a statement of fact that this OL will be even better with more experience together and La'El Collins and the game plan even further entrenched than last year.

Could pretty much use that same statement with any guy that played in Oakland during that stretch including Carson Palmer and Ro McClain.

Oakland has been where careers go to die.

You could be right, but I seriously doubt it.

McClain produced in Oakland, until he got sideways with the coaching staff and benched. Carson Palmer threw for over 4000 yards his last season in Oakland, so it isn't like he didn't produce there. The same year Carson Palmer threw for over 4000 yards, McFadden ran for 3.3 YPC. Pathetic.

Well, the positive slant does point towards a lot of potential for both Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden. Let's hope that we have two running backs close to the century mark.

Palmer had his worst 12 game plus season worth of QBR that year and the team won 4 games.
He didn't return.

Any number of Raider fans will tell you McFadden was considered their best player the majority of his career there.

McClain was never anything like they hoped in Oakland. The guy was the 8th overall pick then never made a Pro Bowl.
His football experience was so bad there he didn't want to play anymore at all.

That team ended any number of player and coaching careers. It is an albatross.
Feel free to keep judging McFadden by it though if you want.
In a month literally no one will care.

I could see it. We've got the OL going for us, and that's a huge leg up. It's just a big unknown until we see it, at least in preseason. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens, though.
