I could see it. We've got the OL going for us, and that's a huge leg up. It's just a big unknown until we see it, at least in preseason. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens, though.
I believe McFadden is criminally underrated right now.
Situation is key and it hard to have a bigger change in situation then a porous OL with a rookie QB versus this OL and Romo.
As to the speed comment, yea I think that is very underestimated.
McFadden has been one of the fastest major college running backs of the last 20 years.
He may have been the fastest to enter the league coming out of a P5 conference with over 4500 yards.
This guy was 2nd in the Heisman race TWICE at Arkansas playing SEC defenses.
I would not at all be shocked if McFadden made the Pro Bowl this year.

Palmer had his worst 12 game plus season worth of QBR that year and the team won 4 games.
He didn't return.
Any number of Raider fans will tell you McFadden was considered their best player the majority of his career there.
McClain was never anything like they hoped in Oakland. The guy was the 8th overall pick then never made a Pro Bowl.
His football experience was so bad there he didn't want to play anymore at all.
That team ended any number of player and coaching careers. It is an albatross.
Feel free to keep judging McFadden by it though if you want.
In a month literally no one will care.
Anyone who judges Darren's career via the black hole experience..............has a lack of knowledge or they just don't like the dude.
Fwiw, I love these sorts of hearsay threads. Give me any line on any player from a named source --verified or not-- and I want to hear it.
I hope McFadden pans out big time. I'm skeptical, because he hasn't done it in a long time, but I'd love to see it happen. We definitely do have an opportunity for the right back to be productive. Of the guys on our roster, though, I think Randle is the best fit for our current scheme. I like Williams' style and personality, but he's got significant issues. I like McFadden a lot personally, too. He seems like a really good, hard working dude and a good teammate. And I think he ought to do really well on the stretch zone plays. I worry about him a bit more in terms of his health and his ability to be patient in between the tackles, but we're about to find out if that's justified or not.

Estimate on the naysayers thread takeover...post #12 +/- 2 posts.....
It's 7 years worth of evidence at the pro level. Anyone who just tries to discard it is likewise guilty of blinding themselves to the truth.
Maybe he's just like DHB and Jamarcus Russell. Just not very good.

Well, his body of work is less than impressive. There have been plenty of backs who have produced with suspect lines over the years. The facts are that he has been in the league 7 years and has a single 1000 yard season and wasn't really heavily pursued by other teams. I think he might be good in a limited role here, but expecting him to be a Pro Bowler or produce anything close to Murray is a pipe dream.
What have the raiders done in 7 years except absolutely suck? In a pretty weak division.
Not just the RB position.
All the way up to the head coaches.
It's beyond not being fair to judge anyone on a Raider career.
It's an insult.
It's the only body of evidence there is to go on. And it's much more than the staunch supporters have.
No one will argue that the Raiders are a 'black hole' when it comes to success, but it doesn't absolve McFadden of all of his failings and shortcomings.
Again, if the other running backs who carried the ball in Oakland were even worse, then that blanket statement could be made. But they weren't, and it can't.
Darren McFadden has much to prove with the Cowboys.
'The only body of evidence' is the 'evidence' for BOTH sides, stash...... it's theeee Oakland Raiders. In all it's glorious ineptitude.
The other running backs couldn't be worse.......he was injured. Business decision(s), perhaps? Who knows.
I'll just let McFadden do the talking, I guess........Here's to hoping we're all surprised.

I don't question dmac ability to run the ball
I do question his ability to be available to run the ball
If he can stay healthy he can be a solid contributor
I don't think any RB is going to be a pro bowler because I think this year they really will be a committee but we shall see
I think randle can be good behind this line
I think with our rb's the question is not so much ability as availability
