Darren Woodson: "There are no days off"

I see alot of people saying they had the whole bye week off and they should have been working

They did work all week they were given the weekend off

I believe it's been said many times that Andy Reid, Lovie Smith(among others, and I believe Dungy does too) gives their team the entire week off during the bye. Look how sharp their teams come out.

Remember when we had the bye before the Philly game, Wade conducted practices for 3 days, then gave the team the weekend off(Romo went to Hollywood with Britney, but noone complained then). But guess what, we beat Philly by what score...38-17??

Wade did the exact same thing before the Giants game, and now he's getting ripped??:banghead:

and many of their players choose to work during that period if it is a playoff bye - during the season is one thing -- but when your next loss means elimination it is something else.

the whole "week off" thing isn't about guys taking the time off -- it is about them choosing to stick around and put in some work when they've been given time off.

it is a team building ploy. only stupid players say "well, he SAID take time off, so I did"

I wonder who taught him that??? Barry??? Jerry??? Maybe that guy who was his first coach with the Cowboys, what was that guy's name??? Hmmm!

The Patriots had the weekend off, and Brady spent the whole time in his girlfriends pad in NYC making crazy. Not much coverage there.

I saw someone say that Witten and Romo "parting like rock stars". Huh? Witten brought his wife, and they were holed up watching the games. It isn't about that guys. If Crayton catches those balls or runs through his pattern at the end, we win and we're moving on.

We can't blame this on something like where Romo watched Sunday's games. Our players just aren't quite as good as we all seem to think they are.

Maybe Brady wasn't in the spotlight cause his girlfriends dad didn't tip off the paparazzi. I see stars all the time living in Los Angeles and it seems to me the ones always getting their pic taken put themselves in a situation to get their pictures taken.

Or when you've won 3 SBs, completed a 16-0 season, threw for 50 TDs and only 8 INTs, you're allowed some leaway.

that had weekend had nothing to do with this loss....the things that caused us to lose this game were the same things we did all year...poor tackling...penalties.....poor kickoff and punt coverage....and Jacques Reeves

Thank you.

It's been the same stuff haunting us all year, except it caught up to this time around.

(Oh, and you forgot to add a couple of key dropped passes here and there.)

Both views are true, I was just responding to the thought that these guys need to be working all the time and have no off days.

Some of you guys are just looking into the mechanics of the game. Sure that's what wins games but there is other reasons for the loss. The team was not ready to play. You get ready to play and you decrease a lot of those missed tackles, penalties and pass protection issues. Almost the entire team did not show up for the game. That's where the problem really lies.

This is so true, but the question is how do we fix it. Parcells heavy handed approach didn't work on these guys, Wade's adult approach letting players be responsible for themselves didn't work. We may have to realize these guys are just not going to be able to focus for the whole season.

If we lose games again next December, there won't be a believer to be found.

well then we were NOT ready to play ALL year...again...in wins and losses I kept hammering home that this team tackles poorly...this team covers punts and kicks poorly...this team commits too many penalties....and Jacques Reeves is as effective as a corpse....but many on this board INCLUDING the HEAD COACH...kept pointing to our record...and since those areas did NOT improve as the season went along...a single elimination tournament brought it all crashing down. One of the MAJOR reasons Wade never acknowledged these things as being the real issue is BECAUSE these things point directly to the head coach, and what we know about Wade thus far is that he is very sensitive. But here is message for you Wade...if you want to be acknowledged as a great head coach...if you want to loser the "loser" label...get some thicker skin, toughen up and in turn maybe your team will toughen up, because they are SOFT!

Even had we won Sunday...we still performed poorly in ALL these areas!

I was saying this the whole game to my friends. Dallas appeared to be missing some of the most basic fundamentals of football.

Tackling (wrapping up - can we get SOMEONE who wraps up on a tackle)

Knowing the play

Knowing your assignment (how many people saw both O and D having issues w/ lining up)

Drove me nuts seeing all of the unpreparedness(sp?) out there last Sunday.

The tackling issues and Penalties have been there all season long that is nothing new

However there teams weren't struggling down the last quarter of the season.

You also run into a catch 22 if you change routines players can get uptight and panic thinking the coaches are panicking which can also happen. That has happened as well.

We need to face facts this team has a lot of good players and very few out and out knuckle heads(always in trouble type) but we have a stupid team it reflects in the stupid penalties we have gotten for over 4 years now. I am not talking about effort penalties; I am talking about the stuff like the taunting penalty in the Commanders game by Burnett; Roy and his continuance on the Horse collar tackle; false starts. :bang2:

Maybe Big Bill was right when he said we had a stupid team:eek::eek:

For one, the likes of Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, et al have given their players an ENTIRE week off during the playoff bye. I repeat, an ENTIRE week. Look how well they came out of the gate.

The Cowboys are not the Eagles or the Bears; they're the Cowboys. Giving them three days off after a month of CRAP PLAY is irresponsible.

What if Crayton, Romo, and the offensive line had worked during those three days on fundamentals? Those squandered three days could very well have been the difference.

Too bad Woodson wasn't interim head coach for the playoffs. I don't believe this team was mature enough to be on vacation during their bye week. They needed to put in the extra work. Had they put in the extra work, I know they'd be going to the next round of the playoffs. What a waste.

"You can talk as much as you want, and it doesn't matter," former Cowboys safety Darren Woodson said. "Being a leader is about guys working hard every single day. There are no days off. It's about coming to work, and trying to be the best at something you love.

Yeah, and Roy Williams gets fat every offseason.

Brady has three rings. Romo is 0-2 in the playoffs.

See the difference there?

It's amazing that some people just don't get it.
