while i agree in principle, much poor tackling is attributable to the rules about leading with the head or shoulders. even on clean hits, if the head moves, it's often called a penalty. even when it really wasn't and there was no intention to cause harm. kind of puts the defenders at a disadvantage.

they tackle viciously on their play stations and x-boxes.

That's the player's fault.
they're the ultimate hypocrisy. they want to protect themselves from injury, but when a player deliberately gives another a cheap shot and injures him, they will defend the guilty against all fines and suspensions vociferously.

People who make millions and millions of dollars are no longer concerned about stupid stuff like what happens on the field on any random Sunday. Why would they? It has no effect on them what so ever. The more important thing is brand building, networking, business development, etc. With the Cowboys it just so happens that these priorities line up perfectly with the priorities of Ownership. The end result is what you see on Sunday.

Must be a fundamental not being taught earlier because it’s terrible in college as well.
That might be part of it, but guys are also just better athletes now. Players don't really have a chance in the open field.

Tyreek Hill is a guy who hasn't existed in the NFL until right now. Fundamentals don't really matter when guys are that fast and the game is played so much in the open field.

You do not have to hit with maximum velocity to make a good tackle. In fact coming in so fast and hitting so hard can have an adverse effect, because if you do not make a solid hit, you just bounce off and a strong ball carrier will overcome the impact and tackle. Good tackling ultimately is all about fundamentally wrapping the legs of the ball carrier.

Its almost like, and I cringe a little when I say this. It's become a total business like WWE or the old WWF. There is just too much money to put people is harms way. I understand keeping people safe but, and injurie now could cost a family millions of dollars. Its just not the same football our fathers watched and its not going away. you are either ok with it or its time for a new hobby.

To be fair Woodson was a warrior. I saw myself a game he played with a broke arm hanging by his side. he still was a beast. probably the best S Dallas ever or will have.
If that's the same game, he actually made a tackle with his head and the side of his neck.

Warrior mentality, kill or be killed. Those were the days of real football. Today's game is Venus de Milo football.

You wouldn't think this would be an issue at the pro level, especially since these guys being tackling since pee wee football. So it's not they can't or don't know how....which brings me to coaching. Sit them down if they won't tackle, plain and simple.

They don't tackle in practice anymore. Hard to expect it to be good on Sunday.

Tackling is atrocious across the NFL. Naturally, since we're talking defense, Dallas would be even worse than most.

That’s true. It was just the easiest thing I could focus on since tackling is emphasized in basics of “tackle football”.

LMAO:lmao2:I been saying this for years. Every tackle seems like a business decision...Especially our DT and linebackers. Soft as tissue. Safety minus a few hits are the same way. I know the NFL has gotten a lot softer in the last decade. But Dallas obviously didn't get the memo you can still hit someone hard.
