Dat and Parcells

Just one look at parcells face on that last game vs the Giants when Tiki Barber easily ran over dat for the game winning TD was enough to know Dat didn't have a future here in our new D...

Some fans can handle the truth of his limitations and others seemed shocked that everyone doesn't call him some sort of Hall of fame warrior...

Lets move on, with better, tougher players that can help us win championships...

Dat will never play again...I wish him well in his after football life...

Well the problem I have with this whole mess, is that why can't he be a captain and a real man and just tell us what the #$#$ the truth is, if it is that he doesn't want to play o.k fine, but why leave it so vague, it makes him look like he's ditching the team
in the middle of the season, just have a press conference of at least a statement, we deserve that, he's the captain for christs sake...

I think Dat is actually a Vietnamese spy. As soon as BP came here, someone from the outside contacted him to learn as much as he could from BP so he could sell secrets to other teams. That is why Dat has been faking an injury. It took time away from going into BP's office and collecting his daily wiretaps as well as search and photo sessions. Listen to every BP's press conference and you can see the hints are all there when he speaks to Dat. You just have to be really perceptive like me.

I can't believe that someone celebrates injuries to two different Cowboy players just because of the misbegotten notion that it prooves them correct.

It's embarrassing to this entire board when opponents' boards show class about Nguyen for the most part and an alleged Cowboys' fan doesn't.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Amazes me how anyone could question this kids character. Dat has had an upside battle since he began playing football. Not only is he undersized for a linebacker, a problem that kept him from going very high in the draft, but he is Vietnamese as well. Not to many Vietnamese football players in the NFL. Dat left everything he had on the field every game. He was a solid middle linebacker and any question as to whether or not he could play the inside in a 3-4 was answered when Dallas was unwilling to trade him to New Orleans. Dat doesn’t owe you, me or anyone else anything. He gave it to us for 8 years. If he can’t go, he can’t go. Who knows better than he does if he is healthy enough to play? Don’t question his heart, he has shown the entire football world that he has more than his fair share of heart.

Rather than demand a press conference, if I was able to speak to him directly, I would thank him for 8 years. I would thank him for his tenacity and yes his toughness. He hung in that middle for a long time going up against guys much larger and stronger than he was. I would thank him for being a role model to anyone who doesn’t fit the normal profile. He leaves a legacy not necessarily for the Dallas Cowboys, but for every kid that puts on a helmet that isn’t 6’2 and 265 pounds.

I wish him the best in his life after football and I sincerely appreciate what he has meant to this team.

If Dat plays next year.....it will be with Dallas!

Yep, he's under contract to play in Dallas next year...so unless he pulls a TO an demands his release :) he will either retire or play for Dallas next year.

Sorry Nors, but there's nothing here.

Thats darn fast he's off depth charts - usually they are way behind.

I ask all Cowboy fans to listen to Parcells and PC. Forget the recap - listen to BP.

This is more than a "stinger". Something went down here. I sense it started at the PC where BP was informed Dat was out via press via agent. That led to DNP coaches decision.

At one point BP said on Dat - He's used to hiding behind behind people - can't do that in this defense. Said Shanle more physical and hits it in there better.

Shanle started when Dat ready.

Then when Shanle went down Dat told Fowler to go in I believe I read. Then Fowler starts over Dat.

Parcells really went as far as he goes to sat Dat was broken down emotionally and physically. Beat up were his words - the pounding taking a toll on him. Insinuated that Dat knew he was losing the ability to hold up.

This story is not over and it was not just a "stinger" here. Listen to BP - this goes real deep - he opened up and thats not his norm.
sorry I'm late Nors, but you are PATHETIC! instead of mourning the loss of Dat and/or celebrating the man, the career, we get this from you, this continuance of your bullcrap agenda, that has no basis of fact, by golly, you've managed to top yourself Nors

you've missed the issue we have here with your alter-ego, it's not about Dat's ability, or in your eye's, inability to play in the 3-4, which is ridiculous btw, just look at the stats, if that's an inability to do something, then hell, call 85% of the players in the NFL disabled, but soon as the news is broken, Nors has to come in here harping on the same schlit he has been for a long time now, there's a time and place for everything, this isn't it

I didn't read this whole thread, and I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I think it's possible that if Dat retires he could end up on the coaching staff. I think BP has a ton of respect for him, and Dat, imo, would make a pretty good position(Line backer) coach.

I do agree that it sounds like there is more to this story.
I was already thinking the same thing.

But I don't think it's a BP vs. Dat thing.

I think it's more of a personal issue with Dat. Something that is holding him back.
Mental breakdown?
Something like that.

This was awfully abrupt and still sounds pretty vague.

Dat was a good player and deserves a nice hand. That said - we are in a playoff hunt and he's been beaten up and not emotionally/physically ready to play football for 2 months.

I have Parcells down - there is an iceberg here when this chapter ends. And its not a "loose disc" - thats JMO

Its easy to be PC here - I care less. There is a bigger story here.

So what's the bigger story here? What are you talking about?

Nors is back in fantasy land again. And anyone dumb enough to take ANYTHING he posts seriously needs their roof examined by the nut commission.

what is more to it? Dat feels that he can't produce, and doesn't want to take up a roster spot, over someone who can, it's pretty black and white if you ask me

NORS I was with you when you said we would go to the 3-4...i was with you in saying we need bigger linebackers...but I am not with you as to why DAT is out...i think he got a good dose of reality when he found out what could happen if his neck got injured any worse than it was....thats why he is quiting...and make no mistake about it...he is retiring....you can mark that down....its a done deal...
