Dat DNP - interesting comment

Last Seattle drive beginning at their own 19 with 2:01 to play:

1-10 22 yard pass to Urban. Ball on Seattle 41.
1-10 22 yard pass to Stevens. Ball on Dallas 37.
1-10 Offensive Holding, 10-yards to Seattle 47.
1-20 Incomplete. Pass Interference Penalty on Glenn, 22 yards. Ball on Dallas 25.
1-10 11 yard run by Alexander to Dallas 14.
1-10 13 yard pass to Hacket. Ball on Dallas 1.
1-1 No gain on run by Alexander.
2-1 TD pass to Hannam.

91 yards in 8 plays (including the 10 yard holding penalty) and the go-ahead TD in 81 seconds.

Just as in the Washington game the defense was completely unable to stop them down the stretch. This has been a problem for us for several years now under Zimmer. Our defense looks great for 50+ minutes then suddenly can't stop anything at the end of the game, allowing the other team to come from behind.

I haven't looked it up yet but I would be interested to see how many 4th quarter leads we have given up under Zimmer's coordinatorship. 15? 20? It seemed like we lost a half dozen last year alone.

This is a trend not an abberation.

Thats the drive where Hasselbeck got knocked on his rear and still got the ball off right? I couldn't believe it when I saw that. Questionable penalties called on our defense also kept the drive alive. Face mask on Anthony Henry? He didn't TOUCH anyone's facemask. Phantom call. Pass interference on Aaron Glenn? I didn't see it. I can't say whether it happened or not. None of this was Zimmer's fault.

Oh and you people suggesting this team doesn't miss Dat... one word, ********.

True Thumper very true!
zimmy has always failed to hold onto leads...In fact some of the quickest lost leads have been lost under no-clue zimmy...

However, the D is much tougher and quicker without Dat, who is VERY overrated by the rose color glass wearing crowd here...

Lets see - we lose Dat and take on #1 offenses 3 weeks in a row.

Manhandle Eagles 33-10 TD scored was a Fumble return for a TD

Stifle Giants all game - but a last seconf drive to tie it 13 points allowed

Manhandle Seattle defense - Suff Alexander - give up a Last minute drive again and offense gives a Game winning FG
13 points allowed.

Lets summarize we are 2-1 without Dat
We stifled 3 very good offenses
We have given up only 2 TD's in that stretch.

I don't see us missing Dat much if at all.

So because other players stepped up and exceeded everyone's expectations, that means Dat is expendable? Nice logic.

So anyone that gets injured and has someone perform at an acceptable level while filling in for them is overrated? Wow, that's quite a list of overrated players.

:jerk:

You'd think Dat is an All Pro the way guys cry about him around here. He hasn't been missed.
wow. i mean i know he's a bit older than shanle, but he actually was a probowl alternate if i remember right. not exactly an all pro, but not a scrub who wont be missed either....

No kidding. 13 points given up to the #1 offense and some idiots are blaming the defense for the loss. Good grief.

and once again...when you have a 10-3 lead and the other team is at their own 19 yd line with 2 mins to go, if the defense allows them to drive 81 yds almost uncontested for a game tying score, how is that the fault of the offense?

It doesnt matter if you win 3-0, 10-3, 38-35 or whatever...if the defense allows the other team to drive the length of the field CONSTANTLY when games are on the line, IT IS THE DEFENSES fault when you lose

think back to the Commanders game...what most people here are quick to forget about is that while OUR defense blew a 13-0 lead in less than 5 minutes, THEIR defense was put in horrible position with a 1pt lead and plenty of time remaining (midfield)...we couldnt net a single first down, and the Commanders won the game...the following week the Commanders offense put the defense in terrible position after a brunell int, but the defense didnt allow the Seahawks to gain any yards and the Seahawks missed a long potential GW fg

why cant our defense stop people like that?

The defense finally starts to gel and people don't want to add another leader and playmaker. Go figure.

It wasn't good enough at the end of the Seahawks or the Giants game.

Never understood everyone's desire to sweep Nguyen under the bus.

Since we're throwing out moronic stats:

2004: 33 passing TD's + 405 points with Dat #22 overall with Dat.

2005: D playing better w/o Dat with a street free agent in his role.

1 thing is certain.....had it been Dat vs Shanle blitzing he would have pulled an Al S and run into the OL and stopped.

I think Al got that move from Dat in the first place though.

Why didn’t Dat play?
"Just didn’t think he was ready to play mentally. He’s still a little uncertain about it."

I smell a release coming soon. I bet you ten dollahs that he's going to be let go. I mean, look what happened to Coakley. They don't need Nguyen. He's a spare part, and he's too small to play in a 3-4. Yep, Parcells is through with him. Nguyen's as good as gone.

If I were Nguyen, I'd be happy. I'd go to the Patriots or Colts and try to win a super bowl. There's no chance of that happening here.

Say what you want about Scott Shanle, but Dat Nguyen would not have made any difference yesterday. Especially if he is not mentally ready to play.

Dat doesn't miss those 2 sacks where Shanle has a free run to the QB.

Dat has already missed that play once or twice this year.

7 years in a full time role and 6 sacks?

He escaped the second sack by taking a grounding penalty.

I don't see Dat having instincts to get after a QB as Shanle has in far less reps to date. Interesting to see if Dat starts this week - I'm not certain he will.

It's called an agenda. Hollywood has been on this Zimmer/Dat sucks crusade for years.

Personally I think Hollywood is Zimmer's illegitimate son and Dat beat him up and took his lunch money in high school.
