David Carr thinks Romo should wait until he's 100%

Carr had 2 breaks and played after 3 weeks. Romo is already 50% beyond that and looking at 2 more weeks at least.

If Romo was not able to throw like Carr described, then of course he shouldn't play. I don't think that will be the case.

And Carr was never a good qb.

I can see Jerry rushing him back and then Romo getting hurt again then him getting cut next year for cap room - him going to Denver an winning a SB

The thing is, at this point Jerry has to know that Romo isn't faking or milking it, given that he's had to be restrained from going in. It's not like the situation with Ratliff where he said he was faking. (And he was faking)

What were the comments by the team and Romo himself prior to the injury this time. He was feeling better than he had in a long time, and was in the best shape he had been in since he started breaking things.

Then a few plays into his rehearsal and he breaks again. The tackle was not especially savage, although it did bend him forward in an odd way. He should have thrown the ball away, but his natural instincts to make plays put him in peril.

Now we are to believe after so many weeks off he will come back in a condition to play out the rest of the season. And some suspect he will play at a high level. Which does challenge the results after his injuries last year, since he was not the Romo seen in the past.

As much as I would like for that to be so, that he returns and guides this team to the play-offs, I don't see how these few weeks of healing will do what the entire off season seems to not have done.

I do not believe we have seen Romo's last game in the NFL. But part of me believes we won't see many more. And by that I mean fewer than 4 games before he either breaks for good, or retires due to injuries.

What I also found interesting is what Flutie told Brees. Don't get off the field as you never know you will get it back. Romo has never had to worry about that until now.

As much as we think it should be a decision based purely on Romo's recovery, it will be our win/loss record that pushes him back out on the field early. If this team wins 3 of the next 4 games then the pressure to get him back out there will be much less. Wins against San Fran and Chicago are important, but a win against Cincinatti or Green Bay would let them sit Romo knowing that the team can compete against playoff teams with Dak under center.

Extending this out some, it seems like Romo's return depends a lot on Demarcus Lawrence (and maybe Tapper). If their return to the lineup immediately elevates the defensive play then the team has a 'chance' against the Bengals / Packers. If not, then Dak will need to lead a scoring explosion to keep up, and that's probably too much to ask.

Sadly that will be true. Just like last year. And it will be stupid just like last year as well.

I would like Dakota to throw a td before being forced to decide on Romo.
Yeah. im not concerned yet, but if the td pass drought continues, that "2 drops for sure tds" excuse gets real flimsy. I think he gets one tomorrow night though.

We saw what happened last season when he came back less than 100%. He'll just end up on the turf clutching his back again if he's brought back too soon. The way Dak has played and if he continues to improve there's no rush to bring Romo back. I know he's wants to get on the field as soon as possible because he knows if Dak continues to improve and we're winning games with him his days as the Cowboys starter are likely over. The fanbase is falling in love with Dak and Romo can see it.

Exactly. Every injury is different and Carr's problems throwing could have been related to the myriad other problems he had with being an NFL QB.
Besides, it sounds like it already is not a problem for Tony.

If this season is to be a Tony Romo lead season, he better be fully healed before getting under center...

in the mean time, Lance Dunbar and Cole Beasley could help Dak Prescott to throw a pass for over 20 yards and open the running lanes for Zeke Elliott. Move the stacked defensive lines to a more honest distance from the line of scrimmage.

Because the running game has disappointed Dak has attempted 75 passes the first 2 games. Romo won't hold up if he's having to attempt 35+ passes every week. He attempted less than 30 passes in 10 games in 2014 and only 19 passes against Green Bay in the playoffs. Dak is having to do a lot for a rookie and Romo can't move out of harms way the way Dak can. Dak's legs have helped him avoid some shots that Romo won't be able to avoid. After what happened last season I expect the Cowboys to error on the side of caution with Romo especially the way Dak is playing.
