David Carr thinks Romo should wait until he's 100%

There might be some fire with all the smoke

Josh McCown just broke the same collarbone he broke in 2015...every arm chair expert said there is no correlation to these injuries but maybe just being known as injury prone gives the defenders just a little more incentive to hit him hard.....we know Romo doesn't get late hit calls

Waiting a couple extra weeks is never the wrong call with Tony....shoulda went on the IR

Waiting a couple more weeks in 2014 likely means the team doesn't even make the playoffs that year.

If he is healthy enough to play without additional risk and to play well, then it is always wrong to wait.

Naturally Romo wanted a backup QB on the team that we could win with in the event he was injured. Not Romo or anyone else thought the day we drafted Dak in the 4th round that he would be as good as he is. If he knew Dak would end up challenging him for his job doubt he would have wanted him on the team. No established starting QB is going to feel threatened by their team selecting a QB in the 4th round.

Not saying Romo isn't happy that we won last week but he knows if Dak continues to improve and we win games with him his days as the Cowboys starter are likely over. He's aging and can't stay healthy. The injuries are going to diminish his skills and we already can see that he doesn't move as well as he used to. Romo can't be counted on to stay healthy for very long and it's hard to go forward with a QB that can't take a good hit anymore.
Why is Romo spending more after hours time working with Dak than any QB we've ever had?

I really don't think you guys should assume you know what goes in his heart and head.
Yes, if you're saying this gets his competitive juices flowing, you are right.
He's is plenty confident. Of course they are all competitive...that's why they reach the career heights that they do...but he's not a real insecure person.

Yeah. im not concerned yet, but if the td pass drought continues, that "2 drops for sure tds" excuse gets real flimsy. I think he gets one tomorrow night though.
Ok...then how is the sure TD to Beasley in end zone but cornerback tackled Beasley for a P Iexcuse?

;)

Dak (hopefully) will be a Cowboy for 10+ years. Romo is still one of the smartest and best Qbs out there. So there's no reason not to let Romo come right back in when he's better. Dak isn't going anywhere.

Romo is doing what any good QB and teammate would do in this situation, he's helping Dak and he's saying all the right things while he's doing it. I've listen to enough former NFL QBs who've been where Romo is to know what's going on inside their head and their heart in this situation. Romo is a competitor and wants his job back when he's healthy and he wants to be the QB that leads this team to a championship.

Heard several former NFL QBs say that they want their backup to play well but not so well that they'll never get their job back.

what are you talking about? we lost the Commander game BECAUSE Tony came back into the game and couldn't move.....they sacked him and he fumbled(we recovered) but we couldn't do anything after...... Weeden had scored twice but we lost in OT with Romo

Romo didn't play the next week against ARI but we had little chance with him and the next week was an easy win against JAX followed by a BYE

How about Swaim running like a drunken buffalo and getting tripped by the 10 yd line

Go back to Brady/Bledsoe, Brady played so well subbing for an injured Bledsoe he never got his job back despite Bledsoe just signing a huge contract.

Dak is playing well and he's not turning the ball over but to keep Romo on the bench he's going to have to start throwing some touchdowns along with getting wins.

The TDs will come for Dak

Honestly, I don't see any scenario where Romo doesn't start when he's ready.
How long he keeps the job afterward is the more legit question, imo.

They feel he looked outstanding in the preseason and was ready to play at least at the level of 2104. Who knows if that's correct, but that is what they think.

Tony rushed back last season. Won one game and then got murdered after throwing 3 picks. Romo being 100% is the best QB on the roster. Romo below that, isn't.
That's the ticket. When 100% Tony will start but with Dak playing well there is no reason to play him till he is 100%

If Prescott can win games then they'll be more conservative in handling Romo. If he can't, they'll get Romo on the field as soon as possible.

I don't mind it. I liken it to a concert. Prescott's the opener that nobody really came to see. The joint's not even half filled yet. Romo's coming on later to a packed crowd and I'll be sitting on the shoulders of one of our members with my shirt off.

Save me a seat Risen...I'll be on the shoulders of @dallasdave with a Romo jersey from Eastern Illinois on.

The TDs will come with Dak but I could see a scenario where Romo doesn't get his job back if the team is let's say 6-1 and Dak's passer rating is pushing 100 when Romo is ready to return. I doubt very seriously the Cowboys go back to Romo if things are going that well for Dak and the team. Most of the Fanbase would be in an uproar if we make a QB change if things are going that well.

In 1991 Jimmy Johnson didn't go back to Troy Aikman even in the playoffs because they were playing so well with their backup. You don't mess with your QB situation if you're winning.

Easy win against Jax with Romo playing great. Did we have any easy wins with Weeden? The bye might be the only reason Romo sitting doesn't result in no playoffs.

Romo shouldn't have come back vs. Washington, but it's very likely we still lose with Weeden.

As soon as the back is safely healed and he can withstand the pain, Romo will be back. Still thinking that's probably right after the bye week.
