I think it is a big deal losing a person the team was counting on for 4 games. NFL you can't afford to lose many games if you expect to make post season and the loss of Irving makes a weak area of the team even weaker. You are right I care because he is a Cowboy player and the Cowboys are the team I have followed since 1965 and frankly do not give a crap about any other player on any other team, that is their problem. So of course some of us Cowboy fans are disappointed about any thing or player whose action hurt the overall team.

It is also a big deal because we are playing the NYG in week 1 and need as much pass rush as we can get, given NYG's offensive upgrades and fact that they've had our number. To think rookies at DL and CB will make a huge difference that early is naïve. The defense just got significantly weaker for the first 4 games due to stupidity. And it is right to feel very disappointed, again.

I agree but if this suspension holds up that is exactly what these young guys will be asked to do. It seems to me Irving should have learned something from seeing Scandrick getting popped and Lawrence getting popped that the league is serious and players damn well be serious as well when it comes to this. I can easily do as others and concoct an excuse for these players but it does not hold water. This is not a secret around the NFL that players will be tested for PED and illegal drugs it is nothing new. Many players around the league and on this team who have played many years have managed to avoid getting suspended like a Jason Witten hell he does not miss games at all why should less be expected from others?

I don't believe the defense got "significantly" weaker. Losing Lee makes the defense significantly weaker, not Irving. I like Irving but people overrate him.

I don't think he is a HOF player I do think he is an important part of a rotation and his loss makes a unit who already struggles even more difficult. Add to that his loss makes any injury to that unit even harder to overcome.

its the PED's not the suspension bothers me - wouldnt be surprised to see a Sean Merriman sort of collapse. Would also explain the up (pumped) and down (straight) games. Not having the option could also affect him physiologically as well as physically. Unlike most here I think theres a better than 50/50 chance he'll become JAG.

He's a part of the rotation but it's not like we are losing a 10+ sack a year guy here. His best attribute is his flexibility being able to play DE and the 3 tech in certain situations. People are acting like Irving is some dominant RDE. He's not. He's a nice quality DE that isn't great enough that his loss should cause massive ripples in the defense those 4 games.

Lee would be a significant loss. Irving is not.

Lee would be a huge loss, and we can definitely win without Irving, but I believe a 23 year old going into his 3rd year who has flashed to be a very good player hurts us

I agree about Lee. But all we have to do is turn on the tape from the Tampa, Detroit, or Green Bay game to know that he is the most disruptive DL we have and one of only a few that an opponent has to game plan for. Yes, he was inconsistent and a rotational player last year, but I believed this was his breakout year. Which is why I am so disappointed.

Well losing anyone in the two deep would technically "hurt" us.

But there are levels of "hurt" IMO and Irving being gone for 4 games doesn't rise to hair pulling level for me. Frankly, I think even losing a guy like Jones, for as average as he has been, would be worse. Collins as well IMO.

I don't think...I repeat think that the PEDs was something we have to worry about a drop off in play. From what I have seen, he was marketing a supplement, maybe he took a few for a commercial...lol.

Jimmy said it best.

"Where's the fear in Dallas? It's a country club where everyone are buddies"

I don't know where was the fear when Lett was failing drug test while Jimmy was HC or when Eric Williams was getting in trouble? I loved Jimmy but come on even as HC with U. Miami they were known as Gangster U.

That is not how juice works.

He had good games against scrubs like Cherilus and outside of GB failed to produce against the better NFL OL talent.

Rob Nikovich was also suspended for 4 games for PEDs

It happens to the best of them

This is not a big deal........ it would be worse if it was weed because they have to keep testing for 2 years when they fail a drug test........not so for PEDs........ it is why Gregory will never play again
Gregory will continue to be tested forever and he will fail or miss another test

Not when Jerry gets his hand on the rule book he won't! And by then the Chargers will be the Anchorage Chargers!! ;)
