David Irving failed a drug test and is now facing a suspension

The ONLY silver lining is that Irving will not count on the 53 and we can keep an extra DL for the first 4 weeks. Gives guys like Damontre Moore, Joey Ivey, Jordan Carrell a chance for an extended audition.

Ah. Joey Ivie. Forgot about him already in the DL roster calculations.

Just think how well-rested Irving will be for the playoff push! Sigh. Not making me feel much better, I gotta say.

so on defense we have a player that is suspended for first four games one that is suspended for the season one that we don't know if he can play because of injuries another who has a b ad back a corner they wanted to trade and a free agent c orner that is bottom of the league and a free agent de who has been cut for being a trouble maker sounds like a winning formula to me

Sterling? How? He hasnt impressed when he has played. And the emotional issues are the biggest problem. The weed is just something he has to take just to cope with his emotional and mental problems. Not saying the guy is crazy, but if you cant stop smoking weed to save your career and life, then there are bigger issues there.
His behavior, other than the weed and it being against league policy, has been sterling. He isn't beating up woman, driving drunk, a bad character etc.

Behavior. Sterling behavior.

Most people in his position would ask someone with the team......hey can I take this?

Our level of suspensions are really getting irritating.

It definitely muddies the water.

I do think there are guys out there who just make stupid decisions to take a supplement they haven't sent in to the team to evaluate. Those guys are a liability, but that stuff is going to happen with young players. Or guys like Scandrick who take recreational drugs out of ignorance and get dinged. Maybe you don't want those guys on the roster either (I'd get that), but it's a different category of problem from the guys who have severe medical issues or are just are trying to cheat the system or who are habitual users of banned recreational substances.

But, yeah, how do you extend a key pass rush player once he gets a ding like this? Now the team has to protect itself, and that leaves them open to a guy getting scooped by a more desperate team who's willing to take a chance on it being a one-off problem. Sucks.

Garrett "finally" has the team of RKGs that he so desires. 7 short years of building and nothing to show for it

RKG Yay!!!

It's becoming quite clear what the definition of RKG is around the Cowboys organization.

Roided Kinda Guy?

I'll say this.. If it's PED's then he could be telling the truth.

My opinion....

A lot of NFL players are on the juice but they Micro-dose much like Lance Armstrong did and many others do to not get caught.

You have about a 4 hour window where you can get caught and then it is out of your system.

I would be shocked if David Irving was using a substance that is a PED and it wasn't by accident or he just took the steroid within that window that he could be caught in.

Do you know why players don't ask? Because they are taking something they are not supposed to take.

its all apart of the process

Yeah I don't buy the 'he made a mistake', 'idoit', or 'stupid' thing really.

The team just has too many resources for him to not know what's going on. Just cause he can help the team doesn't mean we should be in denial about it.

7 short years and you still apparently don't understand what 'RKG' means or how it applies to the Cowboys. Let's set aside the fact that a supplement issue is not necessarily an indication that football is not important to David Irving.

As far as 'nothing to show for it' goes, it looks like you're also unsurprisingly out of touch with the quality of the current roster.

You're right. I could have swore rookies started last year.......how silly of me.

Any other behind the scenes knowledge you could share with us

What rookie started on defense week 1? I'll wait...

If you're going to be a ****** at least know what you're talking about

The failed test stems from a supplement he took in connection with a marketing deal, per the NFL Network.

It would be the fourth consecutive year the Cowboys have opened the season missing a key suspended defensive player dating back to Orlando Scandrick in 2014, Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy in 2015 and DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory and Rolando McClain in 2016.
