I don't have the snap count for the Bucs games, but here are his snaps on a percentage basis prior to the Bucs game.

I don't have stats on DT vs DE but he played mostly DT in the middle of the season and played more DE last week and I think only DE against the Bucs. IIRC he played some DE at the beginning of the season when Lawrence was suspended.

Note: He was ejected week 9.

David Irving is a really weird case. I know it looks like he doesn't get snaps because every once in awhile he'll be DOMINATE like he was last night. But its odd. Sometimes I see him out there and he will do nothing. I've never seen a guy like this. Maybe its his youth? Does he do better with limited snaps? Maybe he needs more? What he did last night was incredible. I haven't seen someone that dominate on this line in a LONNNNNGGGGG time.

I agree
He clearly has the talent to dominate when he wants
Maybe it is a consistency issue

Him getting ejected should of been a harbinger of things to come, like "does not play well with others" especially at family reunions,,,:lmao:

The mix of who else is on the DL varies. In the Bucs games he played LDE often with the starters at the other 3 positions; whereas, in past games he has played more DT with the 2nd string.

Oh really? I didn't know they had him out there at DT......is he playing 3 tech?

Yeah its consistency but how do you fix it? Are more snaps the solution? Because when he got defensive player of the week I though that would generate more playing time.

He has played more DT than DE. He has played 3-tech and is normally the "nose tackle" when they play a 3 man DL in passing situations.

Yeah, never understood why he gets looks at 1 tech.

It appears our "long tall wrecking ball" is on a steady incline in terms of reps and performance.
I hereby heartily recommend increasing his game repetitions to heretofore unheard of levels.

His PT must increase. Period.

he was a big reason we won the game !

He did. See the jump from week 6 to week 7.

Was it Irving who said in the interview a month or so back that Marinelli had asked him to work on his conditioning? It was one of the DLs, to be sure, and I think it was Irving because he gave a fairly impressive interview after the comment, and I know Irving is one of the DLs I like hearing from. He might just be a dude who's capable of athletic plays but who lacks stamina so they monitor his snaps more closely than they do other guys.

Irving is only 23 years old and was considered a long-term project when KC signed him to their PS.

edit - his birthday is in August, so he just turned 23, too. There's plenty of potential with the kid.

I love this picture.

He needs to split his time at DE and Crawford needs to play more inside.
