Nope....DT

Situational pass rusher.....And a good one.;)

Not giving Ryan Russell any credit.....Watch his highlight reel....It's pretty good.

I remember Russell failing again and again giving up contain and otherwise screwing up gap assignments. Between him and Hayden we absolutely go mauled in the run game. He was inactive for quite some time after that.

Was it Atlanta where he got destroyed?

If Irving got some strength, I think he's a natural fit at DE. Coordinators love those big guys at end who have longer arms than most tackles but can still come off the ball.

It was early in the season let me check. Yeah it was ATL.

I like him more than Gregory at this point.

Watching those highlights, Irving was quite unlucky not getting a few of those sacks. Seems coverage slipped in the backfield a second too soon on many of those plays, but he looked real good against the run. I remember that New Orleans game.

I agree with the OP, by the middle of the season we'll see Irving at LDE and Lawrence at RDE as the starters. Not that it will matter much since the rotation along the line will be great, better than most assume.

I doubt that happens. More likely they both rotate on the left.

He appears to be a good rotational DL whether he starts or not. Should be good for a productive 30-35 snaps.

I really think Irving is going to end up being a really big part of Marinelli's DL rotation. Versatile and talented, he has freaky length and knows how to use those long arms.

I've been excited about seeing him in year two.

Just noticed your signature picture.

Looks like Dez is in a lot better shape than he was at the end of the season. Glad to be seeing this.

I do like Irving as well. Comes off the ball quick like Lett used to and just makes plays. The Boys may have gotten lucky getting him off the Chiefs' practice squad. Should play a major role in the DL rotation. Still only 22 years old, wow.

I'm surprised someone didn't take a late round flyer on him when he came out. I remember the Cowboys were interested with him during before the draft and had a scheduled meeting with him. He had some major character concerns in college but his "tape" was really good, at least, you could see a lot of the positive traits on display.

He had a domestic violence accusation in his past. I think that had something to do with it.
