The only problem I had with it was it was so cliche, come up with something new

For one, you do realize that players receive significant fines for not pulling their socks all the way up right? So with that in mind, I don't think it's ridiculous to assert that he should receive a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. That celebration was more grandiose and contrived then ANY touchdown celebration in the endzone that we've seen all season. David Nelson shouldn't be able to circumvent the spirit of the rule by executing the stunt in the cheerleaders area, which by the way is not an area the players are authorized to enter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the designated player area on the sideline is outlined in chalk and spans from the 30 yard line to 30 yard line. So yes, I do think given the points I just outlined that he should and likely will receive a fine.
Secondly, I was exaggerating to emphasize my point. Do I think she should have been fired mid game? No. Do I think she should be on the squad next year. No.

I think every Cowboy who scored should have ran and got their footballs and gone over to her for a hug and gave her their game balls.
Murray, Newman and Bailey (3) could have given her (5) Dallas scoring footballs to her one Buffalo score.
Then they could have sold them collection on the internet along with pictures of each player plus the cheerleader and donated the proceeds to some needy charity.
You can make something big out of this or you can make something better. For me it's better to make fun of it and then do some good with it later. These are people with an incredible opportunity in life based on what they do physically or how they look physically don't miss the bus.

Real life > Football game
Star Guard_31;4244594 said:How was it part of the natural flow of the game? It's just as unsportsmanlike as a contrived endzone celebration. Why did the NFL make it illegal to take your helmet off after a TD? Why did players take off their helmet following a TD in the first place? Because they were screaming "look at me everybody" and the NFL decided it was inappropriate. I'm predicting that the NFL will decide David Nelson's stunt was also inappropriate and that he will receive a fine. Maybe I'm wrong about that prediction and if so I'll be the first one to admit I was wrong.
Doomsday101;4244884 said:I agree. League has no issue how the player celebrate on the sideline that is not considered the field of play. In the end he gave his GF the ball after a TD and hugged her. Chances are with him in Buffalo and her in Dallas they don't see each other that often until the season is over. In the end it was no big deal just as it is no big deal when a player hands to ball to someone in the stands.

They could give him a fine, but to fire her on the spot? Ridiculous.

Being in love is such a wonderful thing, especially when it's innocent and pure.

Again, this comes down to another attention starved athlete acting in a way that says "please look at me, pay me attention".

That you have spent any time worrying about this is more an indication of how bored you are than it is an indictment of what he did. It wasn't about showing up the Dallas Cowboys. It was about making his girl feel special. Breathe.
The world could use more gestures of love, not more outrage.
