David Nelson's Antics

I think the crowd should have stormed the field after, gang tackled the cheerleader, dismembered her body and hung the parts from the goal posts.

My girlfriend and I work for the same company. I would never stand up in the middle of a meeting, jog to her seat in the conference room, giver her a big hug and hand her my laser pointer before making my way back to my seat. You are playing professional football (with emphasis on the word professional) so act like it. Pro's don't carry out a pre-planned celebratory routine when they are getting routed.

I'd put more emphasis on the word "playing." It's a game, whether you like it or not. They're paid, sure, which makes it professional - but it's still a game, and it's been that at every single level from Pop Warner on. It's 100% for entertainment. Don't make the mistake of comparing their jobs to your job. Just because you're both paid for what you do, doesn't mean it's in the realm of similar. People don't come watch you for entertainment. You don't "play contracting" or "play mechanic" just like you don't "work football."

And these girls are paid like ~100 a game. It's not their fulltime job. It's fun supplemental money on weekends. They don't care about football, they like dancing. Running it with an iron fist (i.e. firing her for something like a "conflict of interest") is flat ridiculous.

Just like collaborators in France.

But y'all are missing the most important part.

Dude went on TV and metaphorically handed his balls to her. Freud would have seen this as a mommy festish.

So you're psychic now too, what can't you do?

...whine about things that take place on the sideline of a sporting event that I watch for entertainment. That would be one thing.

My argument is about as concise and clear as you can get. Let me restate it since you seem to be having some trouble digesting it.

When you are getting blown out you shouldn't celebrate.

Says whom?

It was 21-7 when he scored. The Lions were much further behind us when they started celebrating their scores. Beyond all that, it wasn't as if Nelson spiked the ball and went into a Dancing with Stars choreographed routine. He gave the ball to his girlfriend. Would you have been this bent out of shape had he given it to a kid in a wheelchair in the first row?

Probably not, but because you have a warped sense of reality and a distorted view of what's really important in life, you feel like he and the cheerleader embarrased the Cowboys organization and by extension, you.

I too didn't have problem with, however I don't understand why it didn't draw a flag is beyond me. Maybe a fine is coming.

Seriously though, I'm sure there are some rules regarding cheerleader player contact. Even if this was his gf what kind of message does this send to the league? Next it will be a player running over and groping a cheerleader after a scoring play.

It shouldn't have happened, at the very least it put her in a very awkward position.

Man it is a non issue people get over emotional about nothing. People need to learn to suck it up and deal with reality.

I am sorry I just find this stuff :lmao:much worse things to get worked up over in this world or country than that.

Lol, you really think that's what is going to happen next. A player running over to a cheerleader he doesn't know and physically assaulting her?

C'mon mayne.

I guess we should thank TO for starting this by taking the cheerleaders pom poms and celebrating, or Ocho Cinco for fake proposing to a cheerleader.

Yes, the next step apparently is "groping a cheerleader."

I didn't realize we were discussing world famine and global warming on this forum.

I just thought it was corny as hell. Made him look like her female dog.

Yeah, I thought it was a drama queenish move... I got the idea he wanted everyone to know he was dating a Cowboys cheerleader more than anything. And it did put her in a bad situation.

And of course it isn't a big deal... None of this is.

I agree. Also thought maybe this was a prelude to trying to get their own "Kendra" type reality type show started. :D

No because handing the ball to a child in a wheel chair would have been a classy act and a selfless move intended to enhance the experience of the child who was attending the game.

What David Nelson did was a selfish move intended to enhance his visibility and name recognition.

The intention behind the action is what rubs me the wrong way, not so much the action. If he would have simply given her the ball after the game, on the way to the locker room or after dinner it would be a non issue for me. It bothers me because he announced to reporters he intended to do something original. You only advertise this to reporters if you are trying to draw attention yo yourself, which is what he did.

There are a lot of alpha males on this board. Wonder how many are in actual relationships.

So can you post a link or video of the actual statement by Nelson where he supposedly made such a predication?

I keep hearing that bantered around, but haven't read anything specific. I'd like to read it myself.

Funny thing too that a scrubby undrafted free agent was able to come through on his promise to score in a specific game.

That is your mindset that does not mean that is what he was feeling or doing when he gave his GF the ball. What? do you know what is in a guys heart or mind? Give me a break you put this trash on him as if you know.

These are the first articles that came up on google. They aren't the ones that I read last week but they are similar in content with David announcing that he has something planned and it is going to be original.
