David Njoku

I am OK with Djoku and Engram, both will be franchise type players. We have to use Engram a little differently,he can line all over the place from the Slot to outside .

Be realistic. Not happening with this current coaching staff. Howard and Butt fit the mold of what this team is looking for. The other talented TEs in this class do not.

I see people continue to make the easy assumption that Njoku can't block probably because he's seen as an athletic pass catcher. The tape shows he can block in-line and has the right temperament for it.

If we take a offensive player in the first it tells me that we're going to load up on offense and try to out score everyone.. the defense we'll fend for yourself.
Or it could just tell you that the like the offensive player a lot more than the defensive players that were available.

The one that applies to is Engram. He's not going to be a fit on this team, even though he's been a popular mock pick lately.

Witten is on his last legs but the way Dak spreads the ball around and with Zeke in the backfield there's no way you can justify taking a TE the first four rounds. Jeff Heath is our Starting SS.. Nolan carrol is our #1 CB. Our DL is full of question marks and we have no quality LB depth.

Because a dynamic TE does several things for this offense and not just catch passes.

We run the zone a lot and setting the edge is an absolute must and makes Zeke better.

A TE that would stretch the seams and for teams to play more honest with the safeties makes the entire WR group better.

Dak loves throwing to TEs.

Dallas needs a TE. It's down the list of needs but if you can get a stud over a ho hum player then give me the stud player.

If the 1st pick isn't a TE or a CB, I'll be very surprised. It's a very good TE draft and one will be there at 28.

My dream is Barnett slips to 28, but that ain't happening.

He is a match up nightmare...but can they create those matchups??
That's the problem in a nut shell, the coaches don't seem to know how to put the receivers in those matchups or just don't want to.

You can fill some holes all throughout the draft.

If you got a chance to take a potential impact player over a guy that's just going to fill a hole then I think you take the impact guy.

I gotta roll with this though process.

I'm a tried and true BPA believer but the guy better be a Jason Witten clone if we go TE in the first round

I wasn't saying it to be funny. Just the comparison. Butt is probably the closest thing to a Witten clone. Knee issues aside.
I don't recall what Witten's evaluation as a blocker was in college but Butt isn't in his stratosphere in that regard

I think him and Howard will be long gone. Those are the only two TE's I think they would go for in the first

I was all for Njoku with our 28 pick, but I'm cooling on him now. I don't think he's polished enough, and I'd rather pick as close to a sure thing as possible. Besides, this is a very deep TE draft. We can get one later. The only TE I'd take in the first is O.J. Howard. He can do it all.

Having said that, I wouldn't be terribly upset with a Njoku pick, as long as we address other, more pressing needs with the subsequent picks.

Don't be surprised if Howard goes top ten.
