This is the question.

DT
  • T Crawford, Hayden, Coleman, Bishop, McClain, J Crawford
DE
  • Hardy, Gregory, Mincey, DLaw, Russel, Gardener, Edwards
13 players for maybe 9 spots
Gardener is my first cut, then Hayden

Well Hardy won't count at first and I'd add a tenth spot for the DL on the 53. Gregory, Lawrence, Mincey are locks at end. Both Crawfords look certain at tackle. Coleman should be in. Don't think they're going to cut Russell. Edwards probably stays until Hardy comes back.

That would leave two spots between Gardner, Hayden, and Bishop. So I'd say if it's between those three there's no way they don't view him as one of the best two.

Now if they go shorter on the DL, which might be somewhat more likely due to their special teams needs, maybe his shot would be minimized. But I wouldn't count on it even then.

Hopefully the new guys produce enough that once Hardy comes back Hayden becomes a less common presence on the field.

THE FO and the coaches made sure that Hayden has no competition by not even considering drafting a Dt,now the worst DT in the league inevitably will be replaced(hopefully but not sure with Marinelli) by a UDFA.

They will keep 10, Hardy won't count initially. Bishop and Gardner are the odd men out, hope they can stick on the PS but I think there is a great chance that Bishop gets claimed.

Edwards likely waived injured.

I feel like we will keep 9 DL and I see bishop and Gardener going to the practice squad (one may be on active until week 4 Hardy). I think Lavar Edwards is decent but I think he'd be better off in a 3-4 defense. So I'd release him.

Mincey
Crawford
Gregory
Hayden
Mcclain
Lawrence
J Crawford
Coleman
Russell

I'd bet every DLinemen we cut gets picked up.

How does Nick Hayden make this team?

Per Braddous..... Coaches can trust Hayden to be where he suppose to be and take up blocker and play within scheme.
Coleman... not trusted yet. Don't know if he will revert back to old self once he's told he made the team.

But he should consistently draw double teams and hold up. Very few teams double Hayden as he gets turned and driven back too easily. THere were numerous videos on this the last couple of years.
