Dawkins on Mike and Mike praised Wilcox and McClain

Hard to know that Wilcox isn't that guy since nobody even bothers throwing deep against Dallas.

Right. That's why I don't understand the talk of "needing a ball hawk". The only people that have gone off on us this season were tight ends. Secondary has been playing well. You can't get turnovers that aren't there.

Wilcox is improving leaps and bounds, guy has only been playing safety at any level for three years. He is going to be a heck of a player.

Wilcox is getting better, but we still need a ballhawk free safety back there. We still have basically 2 strong safeties on the back end.

They are playing well, but there is ALWAYS room for improvement.

Alot of truth there. JJ does flash, and its easy to see that he has talent but it will just take a while. Alot of teams might still have him on the bench developing but we don't have that option.

We do need a true FS back there though, cause as good as the Seahawks are, they aren't going to stretch us out like GB, Denver, etc.

I always thought the Wilcox thing was way overblown.

1 or 2 members said something about his play, and like monkey's, the rest of the forum or a majority of the forum just ran with it.

Don't get me wrong, he hasn't been great all season, but he has played really decent, and is better than what we have seen in years.

There is a reason we don't give up a bunch of long bombs and big pass plays.
The exaggeration is as bad as members writing off Wilcox's effectiveness prematurely.

  1. Right now all Dallas needs is a pass rush to help the secondary out. As of late they have played very well but Dallas has to put more pressure on QB to force the poor throws

Ive read multiple reports that Wilcox is playing well over the past 3 weeks. I beleive one was Broadus and i beleive Sturm has talked about his play in a psoitive manner at least once maybe twice in that time period.

So now that Dawkins has chimed in I think its safe to say that the kid is on the right track and has a chance to be at the least a solid player for the cowboys. Remember he is pretty raw at the safety spot only having played it for 1 year in college and what - half a season last year.

The back seven is stout. McClain has transformed the linebacking corp to one of the better ones the league. Carr was always a good corner; he just wasn't a number one. With Scandrick approaching top tier status, Carr can assume the role he played in KC.

I have stated he was a liability earlier in the season. But after further review there were several assignment mixups with him and Mo. Since Mo went down with an injury he's been playing very well. In fact, the entire secondary seems to be doing very well. They haven't attacked him deep which means his coverage skills is not the issue. It seems like the more he plays the better he gets. His best games so far has been the Houston and the Seattle games.

I really hate that Mara managed to push through that "INT returns for TDs only count 5 points for the Cowboys" rule.

He wanted it to be 1 , and the other team ( only Giants) get ball on oppositions 30 yard line , but Goodell , rest of owners overruled him :):)

That's the great thing, no deep passes to open the game. We shall see if Eli and Giants ( who love to bomb us) follow suit.

The story with Wilcox is easy to explain. If a lie gets spread around enough people will start to believe it's true.

Ont he play that the Wilcox handwaving has seen saw Hayden turned, driven and pancaked. McClain filled the wrong hole. Durant got pancaked too. But in the openfield against a top 5 back he guesses wrong and fails to make a tackle.

People fixate on THAT?

Nope, haven't you heard? They're flush out of good receivers. LOL. We are going to destroy that team.

I remember Cowboys fans wanting to dump him too after a few bad plays. If we gave up on everyone who didn't get it right the first time he stepped on the field, we wouldn't have a team.

Some players just take time to develop, especially if they come from smaller schools.

Wilcox is a pet cat of mine, really happy to see him shining on the big stage

There was one big pass that Seattle got on us. But after further review, it was nothing more than an illegal pick which should have been called. Wilcox got faked out on that long run by Mershawn and its not easy tackling the Beast in the open field. So I give credit to Lynch more than anything else. But other than that he played solid. Heck, the entire defense played solid. Can't really complain too much on how they contained Wilson and that entire Seattle offense. It was a clinic.

The lack of deep plays is mostly scheme related, not necessarily the coverage ability and ground covering of either of our safeties

We wanted to get rid of Dez.

The hysteria on here is ridiculous
