Day of the Tag, what will we do?

Sign Wilson to a deal, tag Pollard and let Shultz walk. I would sign Pollard to a 3 year deal at 7-8 million but that's the most I would pay him.

Wilson is the third biggest impact player on defense IMO.
I’d like to figure out a way to keep Wilson, but he is likely going to get an offer that blows away what Kearse and Hooker are making.

Puts them about one injury away from safety being a problem again.

I strongly assume we will Franchise tag Pollard - I have no qualms about that at all,
I think we've discovered a back with rare play burst and instant homerun ability, and his potential hasn't even come close to being tapped
. thanks to Kellen Moore (sigh)

- Doubt they are gonna " Transition " tag Wilson.
That would means it could be a it's a match or not deal, for perhaps a 2nd rd compensatory if I'm not mistaken. And that would also mean we'd have to fork up
a lucrative deal to keep Wilson. Per Stephen Moneyball, I don't think that's happening.

- Expect some NFL team to throw the FA money bucket at Donovan as they'll see him as a star in the making.

- i think Kearse is seen as not only leader of the secondary, but leader of the defense,.. and the Cowboys may envision 2nd year Markus Bell
as a Donovan clone to pair with Kearse as the nickel safety package.

- I expect the team to let Schultz depart in FA, Stephen may low ball him to a bargain cheap, and the Dalton camp will respond as " Bye, Felicia "
Prepare the ' 23 season with Ferguson and Hendershot, and would not rule out an added developing TE in mid rounds.
Note how we added Schultz and now Ferguson in mid rounds of the draft in what's said to be a deep draft for TEs.
Doubt we'll see early Gavon Escobar type high TE pick.
Bell may turn into a Donovan clone but he damn sure didn't show it in the preseason with all the hype he got. Wilson is the only hitter back there. Kearse is huge but he isn't a sudden tackler

This is where i think (hope?) either Israel M. or Bell can make that a safety depth non-problem.

don't worry free agency will start and not a cricket will be heard they will all be out partying on the big boat and talking among themselves on how dumb the fans are and then at the last they will some scrub free agent that might play on his contract or maybe not like washington did.

We’ll tag Pollard. He’s our most explosive player and of all the free agents we have he would have the lowest dollar figure for next season at just over $10 million.

Today starts the window where we can tag a player. Who will it be, will we even use it?? Players such as Pollard, Wilson are my big names to end up with it. On the other hand, I think we shouldn't use it, and let these guys see their worth on the open market! Please give your thoughts
LVE or Schultz.

Pollard has a wrecked leg.

I can get the Schultz argument, although I don't love it. LVE though? I'm about as big of an LVE supporter as you'll find, but you would pay him $20MM? Maybe I'm way off here, but he probably gets $20MM over 3-4 years on a new deal.

I'd go non-exclusive tag on Pollard: If he walks, we get two 1st round picks.
I tend to agree, however, no team is going to touch Pollard for that kind of money, nor give up those picks. If they give up those picks, I can't remember how that works for sure. I believe they do.
Pollard is not with $10 million on the exclusive tag, especially coming off a broken leg. Though it should heal.

So the non-exclusive tag could save a few million.

They will use it on Pollard because if they don't and Pollard signs elsewhere Dallas is left with Zeke....let that sink in.
We have also Davis. Id like us to invest a 3rd rounder into RB. And let those two handle our RB position.

FT pollard is way too much money invested into the position. If he agrees to a contract worth around 2-3 mils/ year for 3 years i am ok with it. Else let him walk.
