I don't know why people comment without even knowing what they are talking about. If you were watching you saw it unfold right before your eyes.

Ogbah was the pick until Cle took him. Then Dodd was the backup plan and he was drafted next. Stephen started grabbing phones and they weren't working. He started throwing them around. There was a report that 5 teams had contacted them to trade up but the phones weren't working. They did finally talk to Chicago who backed out of a trade offer but were unable to get the phones to work. Smith was clearly a guy they wanted to take later and the plan was if Ogbah and Dodd were gone to trade down but as time ran out Chris Hall was told to call it in and he notified Lacewell of the pick and Smith was taken. Pick 34 is valuable pick and they could have accumulated some picks while trading down but due to phone troubles and Chi backing out of what must have been their best offer received overnight they just went with him.

Hopefully he ends up being a beast but it would have been nice to accumulate a couple of 3rd rd picks. Could have been Von Bell and Kendall Fuller as a couple of examples.
