1) My mistake believing that without Tevin Coleman in the Falcons lineup that they would struggle running the ball. Devonta Freeman played with a chip on his shoulder, and this offense didn’t miss a beat with him carrying the ball. Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan punished this Dallas defense with Freeman’s carries, and by doing so, he was able to keep his offense ahead of the chains and on course.

2) I am interested in seeing how many times that cornerback Desmond Trufant lined up across from wide receiver Terrance Williams in this game? If it’s a significant number then I understand why he had a difficult time getting open. Trufant, in my opinion, was the Falcons best corner, and I even suggested staying away from him. But if Williams wasn’t matched on him the majority of the time then that’s a poor job on his part.

3) Because of the way the Falcons play defense, I knew that Lance Dunbar would have a big day. My thinking was based on the success that Dunbar had against Dan Quinn’s defense last year in Seattle. Dunbar is such a mismatch player, and the opportunities were there to take advantage of them.

I only watched the first half but I thought Collins looked great.

12) This might sound strange, but I am not sure that even with Tony Romo in the lineup that the outcome would have been any different. The Falcons did exactly what they needed to do to win this game with their plan and execution of it. Sure, maybe Romo makes a throw or two down the field, but I never felt like that this Cowboys defense had a great handle on this Falcons offense.

Come on Broaddus, really? You must have missed the part where Atlanta stacked the box and Weedin did nothing but check down.

Still Atlanta played very well on offense and maintained a balanced attack. Same as week 1 against that philly defense and against giants too.

They are better than I gave credit too and They are too good of a team to beat with so many players out.

May be Romo would not have thrown that interception or not miss Witten down the seam? Overall, Falcons knew exactly where to hit us and how to hit us in the second half

He didn't talk much about the offense. Seems like Broaduss laid the blame on the undermanned defense. Hopefully he will watch the tape an break it down a little better this week

I'm going to disagree with Broaddus, because in the end, I think the Falcons defense would respect Romo's ability to run the offense more than Weeden.
That's correct and I really enjoy reading Broaddus' take before and after games but sometimes he can go a little overboard with his analysis on things with Romo in there no way Atlanta stacks the box daring him to beat them and with the score the way it was and the way the defense played the score would've been much closer than 39-28 even in loss guaranteed.

I knew going into the game that the Falcons offense would a challenge and they took this undermanned Cowboys D to the woodshed.

The way this defense played chances are the Falcons still would've won this game but with Romo, in the lineup that final score wouldn't have been 39-28 it prolly would 39-35 the Falcons had too much momentum in the second half and never relinquished it because the Cowboys had no answer for them defensively.

Yes, with Romo in the game, the Cowboys likely have a high time of possession and keep the defense rested.

Exactly
And they would have paid a price for stacking up to stop the run
Romo is going to find an open reciever and Weeden didn't
Plenty of blame to go around but had we did anything on offense in the second half we could have won that game
The defense got exposed but the offense was a big part of that

I was more surprised that the rb did so well.

In another thread I suggested that the dlineman may have been so fearful of Ryan ,Julio and passing game that everyone was trying too hard to get upfield and be the guy that makes a play that they played poorly as a unit and gave up too much to the run.

Or maybe it was just a balanced offense taking whatever the defense gives you and being content to move the chains.

Either wAy. The defense will improve as the dlineman get healthy.

True there isn't a more finesse team offensively than Atlanta but Shanahan knew that this defense was undermanned so he called a really good game offensively for the Falcons, and this defense made Freeman look like the second coming of Peterson but yes this defense will definitely get better down the stretch.
