That's a valid point.

Either by draft or my free agent pickup another guy needs to be brought in.

Agree. I'm perfectly fine with McFadden coming back and being a part of the offense next year. I am not fine with expecting him to have any guaranteed level of health. I dunno who the team could draft, but they're in a prime spot at the top of the 2nd round to get a 1st round faller at RB if that player exists. The 2nd round has been a very good round for RBs over the past 3 drafts.

Jeremy Hill
Giovanni Bernard
Le'Veon Bell
Carlos Hyde (certainly looks capable but is saddled with a piss poor offense)
T.J. Yeldon
Eddie Lacy

Pretty quality list for 3 drafts considering only 10 players have been taken at RB in the 2nd round during that span. Those not on the list are Bishop Sankey, Montee Ball, Christine Michael, and Ameer Abdullah. Abdullah could probably be added to the list as he had a decent rookie season given his 9 or so carries per game.

I really think the 2nd round is the prime round to pick a RB. No doubt the explosion of the passing game has diminished a RB's value, but seeing how that is represented in the draft is kind of interesting.

From 2000 to 2009:
Total 1st Round RBs: 31
Top 10 Picks: 9
Total For Picks 16 - 27: 15
Total For Bottom 5 Picks: 4
From 2010 to 2015:

Total 1st Round RBs: 9
Top 10 Picks: 3
Total For Picks 16 - 27: 0
Total For Bottom 5 Picks: 4

Not so surprising to see such a decline in total RBs taken, but look at the 16 - 27 range. Just nothing. Late-teens to low-twenties is just non-existent and it accounted for almost half of total picks in the previous decade. It's almost like any RB who isn't regarded as a top 15 prospect has little chance of getting drafted in the 1st round. Every RB outside of the top 15 gets pushed to the 2nd round, and maybe only those who would have previously had a solid mid-1st round grade will sneak into the very end of the 1st round.

If Dallas goes to the draft for a RB, I can't see any better spot to pick a RB than in the 2nd round. Of course, it requires that there are RBs worth the pick, but if recent history has shown us anything it would be that RBs who fall to the 2nd round might represent some of the best value on the board.

Moore is too slow and has too big of a windup to be elite. I see no reason to develop a backup QB. It was fine to have a backup QB for a long time but now we need Romo's replacement. It should be an all out press to find that person as quickly as possible.

And there are some decent FA backs who may become available:
-Chris Ivory
-Doug Martin
-Lamar Miller
-Ronnie Hillman

I'm fine with who we have. Unless we can find a player who is better than the two bigger backs then spend resources on another position.

Unfortunately, the big windup is the bi-product of not being able to break a pane of glass at 15 yards.

I can't dispute or confirm that. I suspect that's just his mechanics but you may be right.

Typical hater gonna hate thread......go figure. Kellen Moore makes his 2nd NFL start...throws for 435 yards ....and 3 TDs Kid could have thrown for 500yrds and 6 TDs yet this place would still complain. Why not put the blame where it belongs?

I still would bring in someone such as RGIII, and use the 4th round pick to trade down and pick up a tough middle linebacker. Move Rolando McClain to strongside linebacker...and trade back up into the first round for either an offensive right tackle or defensive tackle.

Garrett must have stock in McFadden.

There was no reason to use him as much once he got his 1000 yards and extra 300k.

It would have been nice to see if Turbin or RSmith can provide anything in the future.

I wonder if McFadden's production will dive next season from being used so much kind of like Murray's.

Did somebody just compare Moore to Jedi Romo?

11) This club is going to have to get better at the 1-technique, and the good news is that there are several candidates in this draft who can offer immediate help.

Music to my ears

I swear, if at that #4 pick..... They don't take the best DT

Then, I'm giving up!

There is really no DT worth the 4th pick this year..............Bosa is the best defensive player in the draft and he is a DE.

We would need to trade back if we want a 1st round DT

I am struggling to see what special traits Moore showed to deserve a shot to "compete" for the backup spot.

What you saw today is what you will get.

He is a clipboard holder and voice in the QB film room. Other than that, no.

He is a third string QB at best in this league. Period.

is he long-term starter material? no, i don't think so. but if they hadn't tried to rush romo back and just plugged in moore from the beginning, don't you think we would have had 2 or 3 more wins? i do.

that wouldn't have changed much, i know. and maybe this high draft pick will bring us something worth the heartache of this season. but i think moore showed, well, more than weeden and cassell as a potential backup. i'm okay with keeping him another year.
