Let's see: the expected headliners for the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice, embodied the Cowboys-49ers rivalry. Another potential inductee, Charles Haley, won Super Bowls with both teams.

Just thinking out loud here, but is there a more fitting match-up than Cowboys-Niners for this August's Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio?

Both teams wearing throwbacks. Both (or all three) of the Cowboys-Niners inductees on hand. Pretty good stuff.

It'll be interesting to see if Haley joins Smith and Rice in this year's class. He has more rings than any player in NFL history and 100.5 career sacks, but he's not considered a virtual lock.

I might actually try and go this year. Anyone know if there's enough to do to keep you busy?

There are events going on all weekend. And I'm not talking just the Hall. Canton puts on several events such as the Parade.

Plus, there is the Hall of Fame Dinner where the inductees get their jackets.

You could honestly spend a day touring the Hall itself. Plus, you're going to be around so many NFL legends, talking to them and what not.

If you're a memorabilia seeker, Hall of Fame weekend in Canton is the place to be.

My dad and I make the trip everytime a Cowboy gets in. We have never been for the HOF game, but defnitely will in the case that the Boys play in it.

Great idea! And...if they do wear throwback we should wear the double star ones like we did in the 90's.

I'd prefer Dallas and Minnesota. Dallas will be celebrating its 50th anniversary and Minnesota will be celebrating its 50th season.

At least one thing would be accomplished by putting the Cowboys in the HOF game - the ratings would go up.

Sounds like a good idea to me for the matchup but I really hope the Cowboys wouldn't wear their garbage clown suits especially since we never wore them in a game against the niners in the 90s, it would be great if San Fran wore their throwbacks against us though, the 80s/90s version.

It does make sense, so thats why it probably won't happen. Being realistic do teams have a choice to play in this game? Because it is always such a let down.

Isn't it usually NFC vs. AFC though???
Yes.

From 1971 - 2008, there was one NFC and one AFC team.

In 2009, there were two AFC teams (two of the original eight AFL teams to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the AFL).

Depends on who you like to refer to a "legend" as.

Most of the Hall of Famers won't arrive in Canton until enshrinee day, but all of the current Hall of Famers, Inductees, and their families are treated to a meal inside the hall on enshrinee day. Because of the way the Hall is setup, their really is no "back entrance" so all of them walk past fans and some (not most) will come over for pictures and autographs.

Some non-Hall of Famers will stop and take photos and sign things. Jerry and Stephen do this everytime they are there. Goodell did this in his first year, but hasn't since. Tagliabue was a JERK. Most team's coaches and owners will stop. Most Hall of Fame players/inductees will not.

Probably the coolest thing is to get to the Hall EARLY on induction day. I mean get there 10-20 minutes before opening. Be at the door before it opens. When you get in, GO DIRECTLY TO THE BUSTS ROOM. In years past, when we get to the busts there are usually HOFers in there checking the busts out. Every year when we get in there Mean Joe Greene is always there looking at his bust. Nobody usually bothers the guys while they're in here, but it's pretty cool being in there with them.

Also, really be on the lookout while you're walking around, because you never know who will be right beside you. It was this way where we met: Darren Woodson, Chris Berman, Joe Delamielleure, John Clayton, Rich Eisen, and a ton of others.

Finally, Induction night. By far, the best opportunity to meet "legends" is having field seats. Most likely they are sold out now, we got ours they day they went on sale. But it is from this point where you are truly amongst NFL greats. Once the ceremony is over and people are leaving, walk towards the stage area, you are going to run into some of the greatest influences on the NFL that you have ever seen. The year Mike went in, we met Moose, Campo, Novacek, Emmitt, Nate.

There's probably so much more that I just can't remember off the top of my head because it's such an AMAZING weekend.

I think we should do a CowboysZone meet there. Get as many Cowboys fans out there as possible to support #22!

You will see a lot of guys who you recognize. I saw Newton, Novacek, Woodson, Aikman, Rayfield Wright, Jim Brown, Sayers, Eller, etc. etc. It was also cool to walk by the ESPN and NFL Network booths and see them broadcast. John Madden was on the NFL Network set as I stood about 10 yards away.
